I can't believe the trades that get done
- No way I trade Houston for less than 2x good 1st rounders
3 years under contract - sorry buddy, we'll do our best but you signed it
- No way I take the players West Coast did
If I was a member I'd be filthy
- No way I'd trade 12+14 for 3
Carlton need speed speed speed and they could have grabbed two options
If they take the guy I think they'll take at 3, that's perfect for us

It's like teams get caught up in making an offer, making a trade
They have no idea how to walk away from deals
They can't enforce contracts
They pay too much, they accept too little

I want to get into this industry
Clubs value different things.

Houston has a significant reason to return to Vic. Port were willing to help him get back as they value looking after their employees. THey have a similar perspective to us I think.

WCE have a vaccuum in mature senior players - they're bringing in leadership who should be good players throughout their rise.

I can't work out Carlton's one - they should have got Houston - their time is now, but they need to improve their outside game and he's ideal for that.

So Dev Robertson’s first choice was Pies over his home state 😳 he will get more opportunities over there you would think.

We may only get Membrey unless another name pops up very late.

I’m not convinced we’ll be big players in that space next year. I have a feeling that Houston and Perryman are going to offset those savings a fair bit. Will be happy to be wrong though.
Talk of LDU is absolute pie in the sky with the deals for Houston and Perryman plus the impending re-contracting of Maynard and Hill.

The only caveat is of course someone like Noble this year requesting a move. The catch is I’m not convinced it would be popular on here to land LDU if it meant sacrificing say IQ.
The Tiges must be paying some of the wage for Bolton, Baker and Rioli - these trades just don't make sense if they aren't covering some of the salary cap.
They’ll need to in order to pay the 95% cap floor.

Dev nominated us so Collingwood has definitely spoken with him. They will try to fit him in. Krueger to Brisbane makes sense.
I have cooled off on dev after I saw he was on about 500k per season. That is awful lot for a player who potentially won't get much game time with us next year. Unless of course brisbane agree to pay a certain portion of it.

LDU will be a RFA

I'd be shocked if we didn't have the cap space for him

$500k is under the average wage in 2025.

Depends how everyone holds up. I saw an interview with Mitchell recently, and he suggested he wasn't quite out of the woods with his foot issue. Jordy tends to find himself injured for a portion of the year, then you've got a couple of mid-30 year olds, a guy who really hasn't played much midfield, and a kid who showed something, but it was a bit of a training run match. It's a good bunch with a bit of luck, but the floor can easily fall out of it as we saw at times last year.
JD McCreery and even IQ can also go through the midfield.

You’d be shocked if we didn’t have $1.5m in cap space over the next 8 years after investing $1.8m + on Houston and Perryman for the next 6 years? I think you might have mixed up what would shock you…

Yeah, I agree and definitely not complaining. This is the one I still can’t get my head around. 🤷‍♂️

Only way I could see that happening is with a major exodus (including Maynard), which would be ... not good

Not surprised Dave. I only just heard about it then. As I said, hoping it's a load of bull but just repeating what I heard from a source that would have no reason to make it up.

I am 99.9% that is total BS

It’d need to be at least one at $800k ish. TBH I was also probably being generous with $1.5m. North will offer him the wealthiest contract in league history so it may even need to push towards $2m.
