This! I’m still dumbfounded. At the end of the season, we had no trade capital. Houston was going to Melbourne for two first round picks.
We were likely to be not big players with our trade capital.
Perryman was looking at other clubs.

Then bang - Perryman
Then somehow from out of nowhere Houston is ours.

Pick 13 in Noble deal
Richards? Wow - both not best 23 in a premiership team. Way overs.

I thought after the finals with all injury recoveries and a good break we are still the best side in the comp. Lessons learned this year which will benefit us.

We certainly have been pro active in turning the list over.

Hayes seemingly isn't in the conversation anymore. It's between Membrey and Tomlinson from the sounds of things.

Maybe Hayes would consider training on for an SSP spot in pre-season.

Only to some supporters apparently. Assume Tomlinson is being considered as a short term option to add to Dean, Frampton and Eyre types we already have is enough for the club.

I get the feeling that Hayes' medical likely went poorly, as he seems to have disappeared

Hayes would be a better fit from a list perspective, but his injury history is a problem.
We've already been carrying Freddy, Dean and Eyre.

At the moment (pending list changes) we have AJ, Kreuger, Reef & Steene as forward tall depth.
In defense we have Dean & Eyre.
I know which one I would rather add backup to.

With McStay and Checkers, a third tall option like Membrey is a no brainer. Works hard up and down the ground, has great hands and knows how to find space. Best of all, he kicks goals

I prefer Membrey, I think he's more talented and still very capable of 25+ goals a season as a third tall forward. He's still only 30 (a year younger than Checkers), has been mostly healthy throughout his career, and just kicked 30.9 in a diabolical attacking side under Ross.
