Thought Skunk was cooked halfway through the year but after a brief stint in the VFL he looked back to his best again.

We managed to string together some wins to end the season and Tim played a big role in that, kicked 14 goals in the last 6 games so definitely still has some good footy left.

He’s a very smart forward with a great goal sense and a reliable set shot. Not a key forward but leads well as had a solid overheard mark. Loves sitting at the ball drop and grabbing em with a trademark vertical jump.

One of my favourites, think he will play some quality footy for you. Wouldn’t surprise me if he boots 40+ if played in a role that suits him.

Great recruit

Squint hard when you watch him

I see Jeremy Cameron

Is there a way we can see how many goals have been kicked against players. Just looking at Frampton's stats and Tomlinson's stats, Tomlinson is better in pretty much every stat.
Forgetting the one premiership medallion hanging around one of their necks … that’s not a bad stat 😉
Whilst he has deficiencies, I like Billy in the team and think his ruckwork during the 2023 season went undervalued when Darcy and Cox went down. In saying all that I hope we get Tomlinson as an insurance policy. 2025 the year of the Pie ✊🏾

Obviously, his medical wasn't very positive.
I would have preferred him too.

Hayes being only two years younger than Membrey isn’t much of a selling point, given their comparative career records so far. If he was six or seven years younger and had genuine long term upside…. Maybe. But at 28 and with nothing much on his cv except injury , no thanks. Too much risk.

Wheres your detailed analysis Jmac? Please link it.
At the beginning of 22, the senior players we had younger than JDG Moore and Maynard were IQ, Noble and Josh.

We've now got, IQ, Josh, Nick, Hill, Houston, Schultz, McCreery, Perryman.

If we keep up this rate if acquisition, its not just sustainable - well keep improving the list.

He would have been a delisted free agent. Once you've been delisted once, you've got FA status whenever out of contract and Port would have just signed him rather than having to pay a trade price for him.vHe wouldn't have been funds for us in the trade.
He would have been an unrestricted free agent which still nets comps and could have helped us us more with the deal.

So I have to wonder if the selection of Membrey is an insight into a strategic shift for us next year?

Because initially I wondered how we structure up going forward?

Mihocek, McStay, Membrey, Hill, Schultz and Elliott?

What about the resting ruck?

Then I remembered. Wasn’t there rumours of a switch to 5 on the bench next year? What if we anticipate that and plan to strictly rotate Cox and Cameron with that 5th spot?

Leaving the forward line a little more dynamic while keeping our rucks fresher for the whole game allowing them to cover more ground for longer?

Could work

I think he’s just seen as an upgrade on Kreuger. Every season, Mihocek, McStay and Cox spend time in the sidelines so it’s a position that needs cover.

Absolutely love that we got Membrey. Get Tomlinson too.

Can either of them play ruck if Cameron and Cox go down?

I don’t understand letting Kreuger go at all.

We went through it last year. Cox and Cameron injured at the same time and having no ruckman.

Then Mihocek, Cox and McStay injured at the same time this year.

Perryman and Schultz watching us recruit Tim Membrey

Membrey is good, proven AFL level backup. A more certain option than Hayes.

He'll be able to cover McStay or Mihocek, but only as a secondary forward, though his best position is as third "tall", not sure he'll crack the team for that role unless Cox was injured (or one or two smalls) and we played either McStay or Frampton as second ruck.
