I think Cox will be the one that will make way for Membrey. As we can't play them all as been noted by many and our forwardline probably looks better if you substitute cox for membrey.
Might be horses for courses, match ups etc.

I think if McStay and Mihocek were fit this year we’d have played them alongside Cox and Lipinski. Not sure how subbing Membrey for Lipinski changes that dynamic.

Lippa spent more time on the wing in the 2nd half of the year. I expect him to play that wing/forward role again next year. But I'm just not sure if we want all those talls in the forward line. When Cox doesn't 2nd ruck, it would be a waste just to have him on the bench. I'll be very interesting this pre-season to see what the forward set up will be and the defence also. And midfield. Very curous pre-season

Brandan Parfitt ? Played in their premiership side. Only 26, wouldn't mind bringing him in for a trial if we lose both markov and AJ.
In 2022 he played in 17 games , averaged about 21 touches, 5 tackles, 4 clearances.
We really should look at him, mainly because of his age and experience.

Nah we need Tomlinson more.

Jen2310 can we invite tomlinson to train with us in the pre-season if he is still available ?
If we have a list spot, yes. And that only be something thats possible if or when we put HH on the inactive list.
But unlikely we just invite him down if we have a spot, likely 2 players to compete for a spot

How long do player's have to be ineligible to play in the season to qualify for the LTI list?

AFL Inactive List
(a) A Club may apply to the General Counsel or Executive General Manager of Football
to transfer an AFL Player suffering a season ending injury from its AFL Primary List
to its AFL Inactive List. A season ending injury means an injury or illness suffered
by an AFL Player which, in the opinion of the AFL Chief Medical Officer, after
consultation with the Club Doctor, will prevent or is likely to prevent an AFL Player,
having due regard to their health and safety, from participating in AFL Matches for
the remainder of the relevant AFL Season.

(b) An AFL Player may only be transferred to the AFL Inactive List with the AFL Player’s
consent and with the approval of the General Counsel.

(c) An AFL Player who is transferred to an AFL Inactive List is ineligible to play in the
AFL Competition or in any other Australian Football competition for the period from
the date that AFL Player is transferred to the AFL Inactive List until the conclusion
of the relevant AFL Season.

(d) Where an AFL Player is transferred to the AFL Inactive List, a Club may replace
that AFL Player by selecting a replacement player during the AFL Pre-Season
Supplemental Selection Period or at the mid-AFL Season Draft Selection Meeting.

(e) A Club is unable to replace an AFL Player transferred to its AFL Inactive List after
the conclusion of the mid-AFL Season Draft Selection Meeting.

The player has to be out for the season, but they can go back to the active list IF there is another injury so a spot can be open

Oh damn. I don't like either of those options. I was hoping it was only until around the MSD period.
You can't have an extra player on your list so thats why you cant put a LT1 player back on the list unless someone else is out for the rest of the season.
So if we put HH on the LT1 list, and he is available to play in July or August, unless there is a injury to someone that wont play for the rest of the year, lets say.. a PCL, he can't play for the rest of the year
So doing this in pre-season you'd have to be really careful

Yeah that makes sense.

Yeah that makes sense.
I'm not sure it's a lever we will pull unless we are that sure he won't play for the rest of the year. But doesn't feel it's a decision we will make early on. Reckon we'll see how his rehab is progressing, and if it's going slowly, we could pull that lever mid season and open up a MSD spot.

I'll be very surprised if they put him on the inactive list.

We won’t put him on LTI, he’ll be nearly 8 months in to his recovery by the time the season begins already.

Yeah, the upside of doing the injury in august. Unless he has set backs, but if things are progressing well, I don't see why we would restrict him playing some footy -- not to mention in a contract year, toward the end of the season.
