I raised it as the poster was speculating if Andrew had put on mass, not to avoid it. Andrew and Jiath can improve strength, not so much mass. More about learning to use what they have.

Someone like WHE is a poster boy for slow twitch but his running is his greatest sporting asset.

Yes, and I still say suggesting an 18 year old Jiath won't be able to put on mass because of where he's from, and particular "genetic constraints" is dumb and just wrong and I'm going to tap out of this conversation now because it's not doing anyone any good.

"Genetic traits" does that mean we need to concentrate on drafting these types? Thats some real nonsense.View attachment 1948577
Watch the 100 final next Olympics. Look at the percentage of father son kids. Might not be PC, but genetic traits are relevant for sport. Having said that, most of the Sudanese boys might start long and lean but they can stack on the muscle. TJ will end up an outstanding AFL athlete. Mac Andrew too if he has the work ethic.

Early career WHE was a poster boy for taking hangers and standing on heads; those aren’t slow twitch fibres enabling that. You’re oversimplifying by orders of magnitude.

Different body composition. Andrew has more slow twitch fibres. We can tell this from the size of his muscles and his body composition. More of an endurance athlete.

Majak has more fast twitch fibres which favour heavier builds. More of a sprinter.

It’s not just a case of coming from the same country. Different ethnic or tribal groups within a nation have different builds. It is likely that Daw and Andrew belong to different groups.
Have you seen Andrew run and jump? They're some fast moving slow muscles he's got

Can someone that was just a rookie, then senior list for 12 months, go back to being a rookie? I assume there is no rule against it
If there isn't currently, I wouldn't put it past the AFL to make one up on the fly if the Pies tried it.

Day job related to sport, don’t need to dox myself.

This appears in some state’s pre-tertiary level PE course. It’s not really advanced or offensive. There are limitations certain bodies have to building muscle and the type of muscle that is built through training. It’s not to say Andrew couldn’t bulk a little but he is much more limited in what he can do than Daw.
Is part of your day job to make sweeping (and incorrect) generalisations about entire ethnic groups?

Who have never set foot there?

Yes. They're cultural descriptions as well as being about nationality or place of birth. Most of the South Sudanese kids coming through schools or into the AFL now have been born in Australia. They're Australian and South Sudanese.

One I forgot to mention is Lewis Hayes.

He’s been developing sneakily well at the Bombers in the VFL. Particularly as a second year KPD.

Out of contract at the end of the year.

It would be nice to do the reverse Henry, and steal a player that a club has put a couple of years developing, at the end of their first contract.
Do another Josh Eyre. But I think we want a more mature body. Someone from a state league.

With the right program in place, anyone can put on muscle mass, even those who have a genetic predisposition towards having a skinny body type. You should do some more research before spouting stuff like this as gospel.

Ginni’s been up to his usual tricks. Glad to be rid of him.

Getting all his celebrating out the way now. There’ll be precious little to celebrate for Hawthorn on Sunday.

I wonder what his contract status is?
Sadly:

That'll take him to 28 years old, so would still be worth a look then barring a sudden change of trajectory
