Ovens & Murray discussion 2023

I’m already excited for finals. Think the top 5 looks pretty even. Going to depend which sides are fit and firing come September.
Rounds 7-9 see the Dogs play Rovers, Albury and then Yarra. See where they are at after that

Can't believe you replied to him

I was asked by club hierarchy to help analyse the match on the weekend, by doing this it’s important to leave grievances at the door and call it as you see it, this can’t be achieved through a bias lens as there’s a potential four points at play. As much as I despise those two clubs I feel I conducted myself in a professional manner. On a side note, Albury might want to invest in some more shelter, they left half the measly crowd in the weather, if only they had contacts in the construction industry.
What muzza didn't want to watch, so he's sent he's trusty lieutenant along.

Maybe conlans rested ready for rovers?

What's rovers biggest winning margin for the year? They've hardly blown sides off the park and with the loss to myrt are the alarm bells starting to ring at Rovers headquarters, they must be to bring back geoff into the inner sanctum

Rovers came from behind in the last quarter of each of the games they won. They were 3 goals behind Wang but ran over the top of them. Good sides win tight games more often than not.

Myrtleford were up and about, played better and deserved their win.

I hope the young bloke is recovering well.

There’s a trend of clubs just watching the stream, good sides have men on the ground floor, no other way you can accurately assess structures and rotations. Muzza has emulated Collingwoods never never say die attitude, April/May is just about banking points, you want to be polished by mid August

Well said, you seem to know your stuff.

Will we see you and brodes head off to Bali in June to have a break and refresh for finals, I reckon you'd be a great minder Geoff

Have wodonga faiders become so irrelevant they don’t rate a mention on here for their poor 2023 season to date, bottom in seniors and reserves, and the decision to keep playing their best player while he is injured? Ellis-Yolmen is being set up to fail with this approach rather than be given a chance to recover and be at his best down the track. Smacks of self interest from an under pressure coaching group.

Will Albury bounce back this week? Powell will command a little extra attention, likes to run and carry then peel back in to the hole. Their wingers only like running one way, they’ll get burnt on the rebound, few of their older heads will struggle to keep up against a younger Rovers outfit, could get messy for the tigers if it’s a dry deck. Murray won’t allow their forwards any breathing space, picks through the gaps like no one I’ve seen before.

Hang on until I log out and log back in again, got something to add about Sam Murray.

Agreed, should move to the tallangatta league. But in all seriousness, is Almond the problem?

This might sound harsh. But how does Almost keep getting coaching gigs, bought a flag at Howlong, then took them 10 years to recover.
Destroyed Dederang trying to do the same thing.
Coached Corowa, and thank Christ 2020 was cancelled after signing Cupido and Castles on big cash.
And now quickly gone backwards at Raiders.

Not a great track record IMO

retention of stars also looks a bit of an issue. Wonder what it is?

If you're there analysing the match for an opposition club, can you tell us why you expected to be let into the Albury rooms?

I'm sure as hell if Reidy had a minion like you watching rovers, muzza would do the same thing?

You gotta admit that is a good ploy by Rovers.
Keeps him out of their hair for the whole afternoon.

Isn't that part of country footy, everyone's allowed to listen in at a huddle or wonder into the rooms

Mrs Mac, long time CR supporter, has given up hope for next year.

Doesn’t see the Federation Council as stupid enough to support a footy club when there’s a ratepayers group arguing against council increasing rates.

Hasn’t heard about any insurance coming through.

Said it’s a cliquey club, they need to fix their culture, welcome everyone, and get coaching staff who look like they want to be there and ‘heaven forbid’ enjoy themselves.

Where this is going to get really hard is just about every player who was at club last year and stayed locally have gone to a club who is going to play finals this season, yarrawonga, Wang, howlong, cdhbu, Wang rovers, Lavington maybe, and derive enjoyment from that. What is the incentive to return? just more of same. mrs Mac is reading play nicely. only way out remains a high profile coach with a bigger salary cap. But that won’t happen. Not ruthless enough

Almond can’t take the fall for how horrible Raiders are, and he also inherited a woeful team at Corowa. He should be judged upon his stints in the Hume league and TDFL. At Howlong he’s a senior premiership playing coach, I think his biggest failure was up at Mt Beauty, this was Pre - salary cap with no shortage of stars or cash and couldn’t get the job done. Raiders were right in the contest until 10 minutes in the last against Rovers, had some good looking young kids. They desperately need a big key forward. You take Muzza and Filo out of that side and they would’ve snuck the four points. A good indication of how they’re tracking will be wether Elis Yolmen sticks around after his one year.

He's a con man helped bring CR down

What like Peter German?
If they sign a big name assistant coach they'll be ok, what's better jumping on a bandwagon or getting a club up from the brink
