I had higher standards, well not really, I didn't even have much luck with the skanks which is probably why I hate the joints.

The guys that did well in those places were the sleazy douchebags, it didn't suit guys like me that relied on my dazzling wit and sparkling conversation to woo the ladies as it was hard to even hear yourself think over the blaring dance music let alone have a conversation with someone.
Constantly dribbling about umpiring all night would have really reeled them in.

Asics runners, decent but so overpriced.

I'm going to absolutely disagree with you on this. They are by far the best brand of runners available.

I bought a pair of Gel Nimbus in 2007 and they still wear comfortably, even though I only use them if I'm going up to Nan and Pop's quadding.

In 2012 I bought a pair of Gel Kinsei 4s. Quite pricey, but they're the best runners I've ever owned. Four years on and they look almost new, most of the tread is on the sole, and they are as comfortable as ever. I wear them quite often, too.

Asics is the only brand of runner where I've never heard a complaint. If anything, amidst the circle jerk Nike crew and the floggish Yeezy lovers, which form the basis for most of today's runner trends (even though they're not proper runners anyway), Asics are underrated.

I've bought 3 pairs of asics in a row before (the last 2 nimbus), good shoes but I thought the reeboks I had got before them (when they still made good high end runners a few years back) were easily just as good and cost a fair bit less. And recently changed to Mizuno because I didn't want to pay nearly $200 for runners again, although they are a very different type of shoe that took some getting used to initially I think they are actually better and again cost significantly less.

By far the best is a very dubious claim for mine, especially when they are always around the most expensive.

They're expensive for a reason.

I think New Balance comes close as does Brooks, but in my opinion, Asics is the best quality runner brand overall. I'm not talking bang for your buck, I'm talking pound for pound, who makes the better shoes. I haven't tested Reebok or Mizuno, but speaking with friends and colleagues, Asics comes up more often than not, as the go to brand.

A bloke tried to talk us into mizuno years ago because I have narrow feet so remembering that gave them a go, I find they are lighter and fit better. Reebok only seem to produce cheap stuff now that is junk.

the funny thing about deciding which runners are the best is like denoting which musical artist or band is or are the best. in music, tastes vary. in shoes, more importantly runners/football boots etc, its about what fits you.

as does age. i recall being a kid in the 80s. converse were teh shit. yay.
a young, aspirational teen in the 90s. 180s (nike), pumps (reebok) were the in demand items.
no its yeezys or something. i dont even know what they are other than a form of sneaker.
peer pressure plays an enormous part, and parental support, in what you wear.

however, there comes a point in your life when you say **** it. my feet are whats most important! i have enjoyed asics before. a while ago. then went brooks. sure tehy look like something your grandfather wears with beige pants and tucked in shirt. but by far, for my wide feet, spectacular. like walking on clouds (if that was humanly possible).
now sporting new balance. for wide feet, something to consider.

I've only worn New Balance runners/trainers for the past 15 years or so, I have wide feet and they have the best wide fit range.

I also like the look of them and they're quite durable as well as being cheaper than a lot of the other brands. I just bought a new pair of NBs for $64 which were on sale for half price. They looked better than the Brooks and Asics runners that were about 3 times that price.

My footy boots and runners are NBs. Can confirm they are great.

IMO footwear is something worth splashing out on.
Not that NBs are the most expensive anyway.

Agree.

It's like anything though really, if you use it a lot etc, it's worth spending the money on it.

Wouldn't spend $3000 on a suit if I was gonna wear it once every two years, but a pair of shoes I'd be wearing every day, I could justify spending a decent amount of money on.

Trained in biomechanics and have worked with some of the major brands in footwear development and training, mainly with tech reps looking at what each shoe does in action. Then passed that info on to podiatrists and podiatry lecturers to use.

Can categorically say that people should not stick with a brand. all the good brands have shoes that are well worth the coin, and they all have some "flagship" shoes that are worth nothing like what they cost.

The number of patients I had that were kayano people because they thought they were the best shoe astounds me. Sucked in by the price tag and the prestige.

I bought a pair of Asics that fell apart after a couple of months. Just bought a pair of Nikes. Hopefully they last a bit longer.

Yeah like NB for my wider feet. Bit concerned they seem to be footwear of choice for your average sneans person. Dont want to head down that path in a few years time

A really good bed is something to invest thousands on as well. Most people spend nearly a third of their life in bed, so it's worth the investment.
