All the recently minted Matilda fans will watch and be spouting about what a magnificent game this has been.

I’m happy that they can be happy about it, because I’m watching an absolutely abysmal display of football, the dumb purist that I am. Am just trying to enjoy it for what it is, some goals however they come.

Gustavsson is tactically inept at both ends of the pitch. Amazing really.

To be fair theres not much more the attacking players could do, they needed goals and they got it. Don't know why he didn't start Haymen she is making him look worse than usual.

It works against Zambia but these tactics never work against good sides. We were embarrassed by Germany. Let's cross the ball into the middle with no pace and try and score with a header from short people.

Women's football was the real winner though, great game.

It was a fightback of some sort. They gave us an own goal, their goalie let one through her hands and then there was a penalty but Heyman's goal curled around the keeper was class.

The Zambian goalkeeper looked devastated.

She probably blames herself for losing that game by letting a goal slip through her hands but she saved a lot more.

It's a tough gig being a goalkeeper, they don't remember the saves but they remember the bad misses especially when they lose.

But Canada have been penalized 6pts and are on -3 currently playing France 0-0 and with another game against Colombia. New Zealand have lost both games, can only make it to 3 pts in that group and would have to beat France in their 3rd game

Edit/add: That's assuming NZ don't pull off an almighty upset.

USA 3-1 lead over Germany near half time. France 1-0 ahead of Canada. I suppose if France win and get to 6pts they can throw the last game to NZ and get revenge on us for their World Cup defeat by giving NZ 3 points.

We're no threat. I think the most likely combination is 1A vs 3B which would be France Vs Australia in the first knockout game.

They could get their revenge by beating us without gifting the spot to New Zealand and tanking in front of their home crowd.
