And now all Collingwood supporters are pooping their pants lol .
Hearing this a lot from Carlton acolytes, but the potential to go two games clear of Melbourne after this weekend sounds pretty damned good to me. Hope Cripps plays out of his skin tonight.

There’s no such thing as an optical illusion.

By the way, John Noble was lucky not to be suspended for jumping on this prostrate Carlton player…

This actually made me laugh.

Glad you’ve taken your lawyer hat off and put the comedian one back on.

Much more suited.

A forgotten fact is 3 umpires saw this incident live - and NOT ONE OF THEM thought it was even worth a free kick.
It's not a forgotten fact. It's an irrelevant fact.

What would they pay a Free for?

If you bump someone fairly, and they get concussed when their head hits the ground - there is no Free Kick.

It's illegal and you get 2 weeks from the MRO, but there's no Free Kick

The AFL have allowed the legal eagles to bamboozle them and confuse us plebs along with them. The fact is Ah Chee is out this week and Cripps can play, i also have no doubt the AFL knows he probably has 20 Brownlow votes or more after 10 rounds this year, it would be mighty embarrassing if he wins by 10 votes and can't accept the award? That problem has now been solved, it also gives Carlton a big chance in their final two matches. This was a bizarre tribunal turnaround to a clear cut 2-week suspension, there is more to it all than we'll ever know.

Sad that the consequence of Cripps trying to ‘inspire his team’ is that Cal received a concussion, will miss at least one game and has been receiving racist abuse from Carlton fans on social media.

Tim Kelly gets a week for the potential to cause an injury, where his opponents head suffered no impact and he got up and took his kick. Cripps gets off after causing a serious injury.
Makes perfect sense.

A bunch of real "oh won't somebody please think of the children!" type operators in here.
Oh give me a break.

Debating the laws of the game and the inability of the tribunal to consistently apply them is normal.

No different to the pile onto Josh Kennedy when he ironed out Sam Docherty in a poor attempt to punch the ball (in Kennedy’s words, not mine). The right decision was reached back then. The wrong one now.

Should've been a free kick to Cripps for obstruction.

That’s not actually true.

The appeal was allowed because of an “error in law”.

But the appeals board also found that Cripps was contesting the ball, and that what he did didn’t constitute a bump. Had they not, he would still be out for two weeks.
Honestly, this whole case is too hard for me to interpret anymore. It's just so much lawyer talk that I don't think anyone here can get their heads fully around it. From my understanding the AFL counsellor stuffed up during the initial appeal around the term 'bump' that allowed for this next appeal. This appeal is done by more lawyer people as the board members and they believe the evidence provided by the AFL still leaves a reasonable doubt that Cripps bumped. So they aren't finding him innocent just that the decision from the jury for the first appeal was unreasonable based on the evidence provided.

Who knows though, absolute cluster **** of a case.

I was at the game and after they didn't pay a free to Ah Chee I was yelling out that they were holding Cripps. I mean two Lions blokes were straight up trying to drag him to the ground, all play on apparently. It had to be a free kick to someone at least.

Yes, let's celebrate smashing a bloke in the head and taking him out of the game due to concussion.

This just proves that the AFL isn't serious about concussion issues at all.
And they shouldn't be. It's a contact sport, incidents happen. It's part of playing the game.

If you do something outside the spirit or laws of the game - act on the player. If a player gets injured within the spirit and laws of the game (as Ah Chee did given he was injured when contesting a football that was in dispute by a player going for the ball) then tough luck to him. Concussion is no different to any other injury - it's an unfortunate by product.

We are not the NFL. The NFL has these issues because they promote head high contact through their helmets and pads. Our game does not, head high contact is incidental and accidental.

Imagine if Cripps gets smashed tonight in a similar way... All the Carlton supporters would call for a suspension...
Yep just like every other supporter on here if one of their players were cleaned up. On the other hand everyone on here would back their player in if he was the culprit.

I agree that this isn't how the AFL MRO works, but it should be. You should get suspended based on the action and the potential to cause injury or the malicious intent. Not the outcome. Obviously if there was an action with potential for injury and an injury occured then it should be a greater fine, but whether a player is injured shouldn't be the starting point that the AFL MRO currently uses. It should be more like the Kelly suspension where ti is the action that is criticised.
