Please people - "morals", "loyalty", " "right thing to do". This is a business. Dangerfield is entitled to do whatever is best for Dangerfield and nothing else should come in to it. Likewise if the club don't like it then they have the ability to do something about it and match the offer, or play hardball with a trade. If this forces Danger in to the preseason draft then so be it. Pretty simple. He owes the club nothing and the club owes him nothing as they both pursue future success.
all very true, yet clubs still try and play the "loyalty" card with supporters when trying to get them to sign up to memberships etc
have to laugh when they get players to make the calls to try and get people to sign up on this basis

Is it actually "official" yet, though?

I can't help but feel like Adelaide are having a press conference or whatever, and everyone is assuming it's related to Dangerfield.

I'd assume it'd be more likely to be about the controversial sharing of sensitive information.

A player "requesting a trade" is merely worthy of a blunt statement, not a press conference.

Probably given the status of Dangerfield in the game, hence a press conference rather than just a media release etc.

Oh dear, most players earn a lot less than $340,000 per year, average and median are two different things. The AFLPA should be a bit more vocal about that for the uneducated masses.

Also, most players are contracted for less than a couple of years, not 10 years.

Wouldn't be a good look for the AFL if their answer is 'well you could always quit playing football'.

Those that are only around for 2 years have nothing to do with FA and RFA.

If the AFL wants a fair system it would go no salary cap no draft, clubs with the biggest bank balance will thrive and players will get what they want when they want.

The AFL are trying to keep Fans Happy, Clubs happy and Players happy. This is going to upset each group on occasions it cant be handled where everyone is happy.

You reckon Hodge would have accepted the cash he's on now if the team hadn't won a premiership?

Are you saying fans shouldn't have respect for Gibson, Lake, Hale, McEvoy, Gunston, Burgoyne, Dew?

Ask a Power fan what they think of Burgoyne, or a Crows of Gunston maybe check their boards and you will get your answer

Actually the average wage of an AFL footballer is over 300k now...just sayin
I'm just saying you should have paid more attention in high school maths. The average might be 300k, but most players earn a lot less than that. The average is inflated by the very few players who are on a lot more than that. Leaving a lot of players on a lot less than that. The median wage is probably less than $200k.

This is a strange one in the sense that I think Adelaide are probably closer to a flag than that Cats in terms of ready to go players. I'd be curious if Cats fans think adding Danger changes that? With the talls down back getting on a bit I would have thought it wouldn't
