He will be fine at 95kg, and nobody will get away from him when he gets hands on them
How fast can you realistically increase your pace/burst with training? Idk if you can make a substantial difference but if you can, he should be focusing on that. We have Brodie and Young, we don't need another 90kg bull.

I think Erasmus will a huge frame winning the hard ball is superior to Brodie because Erasmus can work both ways.

Not to mention Erasmus will be able to work his opponent and his team mate's opponent off the ball for smaller players to benefit.

Brodie can't work hare enough yet like I expect Erasmus to, but Brodie is stronger and physically developed. If they are both physically developed Neil is outworking Brodie, and he is bigger than him too.

Erasmus could be a Patrick Cripps style mid, but with a better tank.

I'm not sure how much you can build your burst speed through training, Fyfe was putting in a lot of work around 2015 on the legs to be able to drive out of stoppages carrying an opponent on his back. My running work was focused on being able to run more, not so much run faster.

You certainly can build your cruising speed by increasing the strength in your legs so your stride takes you slightly higher and therefore slightly longer each step.

But you're talking power, torque power, zero to 100 in 0.5 seconds.

I don't think he needs that if he is able to chase.

I see Johnson as having most of those traits and is already a better kick, so can play inside and outside. He’s at least a year ahead of Erasmus in his development. Which will make it harder for Erasmus to find his place in the team.
Young, Johnson, Brayshaw and Serong could be our awesome foursome in the middle for the next 6 years.

Not disputing that Johnson is further developed than Erasmus but in terms of centre midfield, Erasmus is better than Johnson at positioning at the stoppages, ball winning, handballing and general temperament. Johnson's kicking is much better but around the stoppages it is much reduced strength then when he on the outside. As Taylor has suggested, to play centre midfield full time, Erasmus needs to be aiming for the Fyfe transformation; it is clear that even as the season has gone on he has put more bulk on but I think there is more to come.

I think the choice they have to make is more around Young versus Johnson in the centre. ATM Young has more composure and has better delivery from the centre square (which is ironic because his disposal from half back this year was worse under less pressure) and is probably equal to him in defensive pressure. But I can see merits in Johnson being the one as well.

If they commit to Young being in the midfield then they should also commit to Johnson playing more outside / wing like they did in the last three or four games, which will mean getting his (Johnson's) running up even more. Alternatively put Young back to half back, bring Chapman up to the wing, and pump games into Johnson in the centre square.

I think Johnno will eventually go on the ball full time. I would like to see Caleb, Young and Johnson in there with Andy on a wing and inside relief. Johnno needs another solid preseason but that’s a given at his age

He'll be built like Stewie Dew on that diet by the time November rolls around.
This comment shows a bit of ignorance about what is required to add weight.

It is borderline impossible to add weight without also adding fat. The advantage of not making finals is a longer off season (pre-preseason) which gives more time to do a bulk/cut cycle.

Almost guaranteed they're going to be on 3500-4000 calorie intake at about 40/30/30 split of carbs/fat/protein. That's a shit load of protein btw, this would require 2 to 3 protein supplements in a day plus protein for breakfast lunch and dinner.

They'll smash it in the gym, and add let's say 8kg (not exact numbers) over 8 weeks. From this they would be lucky if 2.5kg of that was muscle gain.

Then the cut starts, down to around 2500 calories (again don't know exact numbers cause everyone is different), on a similar macro split. The aim here is to be in about 500 calorie deficit per day and lose 0.5-1kg per week, but if you do it right, you will lose the fat you gained, but hold that 2.5kg muscle you put on.
The cut phase is obviously the hardest part, cause you're still smashing it in the gym, but you're feeling lethargic due to having to use existing stores of energy to fuel your sessions.

Time this all correct and your starting your pre season at a similar body fat %, but you're 3kg heavier than you were when the season ended.

You can only do this during the off season due to the need to gain 8-10kg in a short space of time.

I think you are potentially right that his end position is inside but I just don't see them going both Johnson and Young at the same time. I think we should bear in mind that some of the match committee see Young as a backman or a wing and that to play him as a midfielder is robbing Peter to pay Paul (and given how woeful our backline was most of the season you can understand why they would want to lose talent from there).

If Corbett continues to build his form in the WAFL like he has over the last month or so going into next year, he could become a serious talent.
