Odd game to judge Treacy. Was hardly sighted in the first half before going into the ruck and out of the 50. Ended up getting a fair bit of the ball in the 2nd half. But...............that is never going to be his position in the AFL.

Yeah mentioned him in my best players.

I agree that he setup some good attacks from defence particularly by hand, but needs to stick some of those tackles that the East Freo players broken (especially as that is big on Longmuir's list right now), also some of his kicks went straight to the opposition (but he was not alone there).

On Davies, I agree that the 50 was bad, and he also had one kick that went straight to the opposition, but I thought defensively he was pretty good most of the game and he had a really aggressive mindset coming out of defence.

There’s no excuses ladies and gents.

Any poor performers tomorrow must be dropped. Little bit in the shed ready to go.

Looking at Henry, Banners, Tabs, Hughes types.
Yes and no. Pretty meh first half by many.
Erasmus needs a few more games.
Treacy had 2 disposals at half time. Then moved in the ruck. That's not his role though.

Sturt was doing everything OFF the ball really well without any disposals. Finally got involved in the last quarter and bagged two. Should've played this week on that performance. Offers more then Banfield would've had, even at WAFL level.

The duck for the free kick was disgusting. Don't mind a bit of mongrel, the 50 was poor, but jeez the East player just milked the tackle then the contact made with the push

Yeah this is the killer for me. Despite being a fringe 22 player Banfield rarely plays WAFL - played three games there last year - and when he does he's as useless as anything we saw out there today. He had a grand total of 12, 7 and 7 disposals in his three games at WAFL level last year.

Corbett managed 2 goals and another set shot that narrowly missed. There were awful deliveries most the game and he took a few marks i50 which is a good sign.

Tabs has to play well or surely he’s dropped.

I’m standing by my ‘ he’d be a better backman call ‘

Looks so much more imposing down there

Luckily Freo are short of good backmen :tonguewink: but i agree

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, if banners kicks 1-2 goals regardless, he'll stay in the seniors.

Yeah its almost like he is in limbo between teams and the coaches feel bad for jumping over him to select someone else

All the Sturt doubters always say he does too little at WAFL level yet Banfield gets a free pass

Totally agree with this. He's getting praise for laying a tackle or picking up a loose ball or giving a handball which is sad really.
He is getting praise for having impact on the game, when he is near it he does something, its exciting

exactly how Freddy plays at AFL level.

Needs a chance.

Treacys best game in 2021 he was rucking aswell (maybe second best game)

We got Jackson so he will never have that role though

Even in the preseason vs Port when Treacy played well, he did some rucking coz Dogga was out

Need to find a way to keep him involved, maybe the second ruck at Peel with give him some marking confidence and get him involved

Thats how these biases work. Everytime they get a touch they think it's some kind of momumental achievement, even to touch the ball lol when it's someone they don't like they downplay any good and harp on every little error

Yeah solid last quarter where the superior fitness and aggressive mindset were the difference. East Fremantle are a good WAFL side and will be up there you’d think so it’s a decent win all things considered but still a lot of improvement left in most of the guys.

Brodie had a tonne of it as expected, was strong at stoppages and clearly the best player on the ground.

Thought Worner played a really good game (interesting he’s not playing wing though) and Wagner looks solid in the Wilson type running defender role.

Corbett competed well all game and was the most consistent forward and Sturt was impressive when we went quicker and deeper with our ball movement.

Ras had a strong three quarters after a slow start and considering the pressure they applied to him. Wouldn’t mind him getting a game as a forward at freo given his goal sense and finishing skills if opportunity arises.

Hamling was very solid and could fill a role for freo if needed but Treacy is a hard one to assess given he struggled forward but was reasonable in the ruck/around the ground.

Interested to see the development of Emmett and Kuek who both looked good at times and will build on that effort no doubt.

Anyone else think Treacy as the deepest fwd doesn't fit him at all? When he was fwd and having no impact aerially (though provided 2 GAs from fwd 50 ground ball gets and taking on the defenders) he was positioned close to the goalsquare, behind every contest with the ball dropping around 35m out.

Hard to judge coz almost all the entries were shallow anyways, but to me he plays so much better when he has a run at the ball than when he's trying to do Rory Lobb cosplay.

Thought Worner was close to our best in the back line. Though Hammer was very, very good.

Also, come at me, but I really like Trey Bennell. He’s hard at it. Does most things right. Kicks beautifully. Could arguably offer more than Henry IMO.

Treacy had more than 2 disposals at half time & he played in the Ruck from the 1st quarter

Trey is a decent WAFL player already. Henry is yet to prove he's that consistently but getting the odd game in the firsts hasn't helped that and he's still young.

Henry won't be a star player but I'm confident that he'll end up having a better career than Trey who by the way isn't top level AFL quality.
