Could get away with playing Ryan on Lobb. If Lobb is going to mark it, it doesn't really matter who his opponent is. His marks come from unimpeded leaps where he can get his arms up higher than almost any tall defender out there. But most of the time he plays like a wet lettuce leaf and is bodied out of the contest. I saw the likes of Finlayson and Burton (the latter giving up almost 20cm and 20kg) monster Lobb last night.
Maybe Ryan from 2021 or whenever it was he was our second tall

I had no idea Selwood played colts last year, he's been pretty impressive IMO. Not quite that dude who got drafted by GWS whose name I cant remember level of impressive but I think he's one to watch in the next couple of years.
As a regular Peel watcher i can confirm Michael Selwood has plenty of ability and toughness definately could make it in the AFL
Young Hall is another to watch but WC will probably take him before we get a look
Draper looked good on Saturday ,nice size and has some pace and kicked well (Benning in the reserves is not showing any improvement and doubt he will be on the list next year)

Benning should be told now that he won't be on the list....by mutual agreement he is delisted and we get another pick in the mid season draft.
Would be a good result as he is not even WAFL level and we then might be able to pick up the tall Claremont forward and he can pinch hit in the ruck (having a seniors moment but i think his name is Buller )

Think that players need to be retired or have a long term injury to be placed on the inactive list tbh.

So we’d probably have to go with ‘retired’ as the official reasoning if we were to want a second pick in the Mid Season Draft.

Works for me, has there ever been a player on the main list that plays only 1 WAFL seniors game and the rest reserves in our history coz that’s where this is heading…

I don't think we need more B grade ceiling KPFs.

Agreed - if we bring in a mid season KPF they are going straight to the reserves unless you think they are a better option than Treacy and Kuek have more long term potential than Knobel or Reidy, and that is neither good for us or them.

Honestly I don't get the obsession with the mid season draft - it is the worst time to do anything with the list apart from take recently available players that defy their immediate non-selection in the previous year's draft and honestly nobody is jumping out in that category. You can also take someone as a stop gap for a massive list hole due to injury but we don't have one of those either.

It is better to take stock at the end of the year and make deliberate list choices then.

It’s worth having a look imo but ultimately we’re adding a player to the rookie list and expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Benning was always a project player but his tank is seeming as bad as Mollers

Writing on the wall when we drafted 2 rucks AND brought in Dogga last year though

How long did Moller get in the end?
Moller is/was a better player than Benning and actually played some reasonable games for Peel seniors (my memory was he had a good leap , took some pack marks and kicked a few goals whilst playing FP,in the finish better suited to basketball)
Cant think of any other player we recruited who failed to at least play at least a few WAFL seniors game (we have had a few who didnt play AFL)

I think Isiah Butters would be another. It’s probably slightly unfair to label him as he was on our list in 2020 when our players didn’t play WAFL at all. He did try the next year though and didn’t make it in Claremont’s senior side.

What is the issue? Lack of skill, lack of physical development, lack of application/focus?

I had thought his junior performances were being talked up on here just last year.

Craig played under 16s for Sydney Uni in 2012 (we saw a bit of him over here in the Canberra and Sydney junior comps).
I recall he was with the GWS academy late in 2012 - and we picked him up in the 2013 rookie draft (so in December 2012). I think we delisted him at the end of 2015? Might be 2014 though? So really only the basic 3 seasons plus one extra because he was a cat B rookie.

FWIW, Moller sounds more talented and focused than Benning - Craig was in the 17 player Boomers squad for the FIBA world champ qualifiers as recently as 2022, and I think still plays top level basketball in Germany (he has German citizenship eligibility via family I think). Just off the top of my head based on what I can recall, he had a pretty big profile over here when he played for the Kings and Melbourne in the NBL.

Yeah I was specifically talking about tank though, Moller used to get lapped at training

I see no reason to delist Benning now. He should be given his full two years. The problem is he hasn’t improved at all and has zero endurance.

He showed some exciting progress throughout his draft year especially when he moved to Perth from Northwest and the club were hopeful that trajectory of improvement would continue in a professional environment.

He seemed to really lag with the running and had some injury issues as well. If he came back from pre-season out of condition then likely the writing is on the wall. Give him the remainder of the year but at this stage his name will be the first amongst the Delistings in September/October.

Im not saying we should or shouldnt delist Benning right now, but the reason to do it is to pick any other player across the entirety of Australia, instead of a guy who still cant run to an acceptable standard and is struggling to get a touch in Wafl ressies. Some more then decent players have been picked up in the mid season draft.
