I thought Chapman's disposal was braver than we've seen at AFL level, especially his few games in 2023. At times at AFL level thought he doesn't take the game on as much as he can, but that definitely wasn't an issue in this game.
Reckon there would be a lot more space at WAFL level. Oppo don't have the fitness, ability or discipline to close space like AFL players.

Defo fair point, but coming off injury it was something I was impressed by. Didn't seem to be using the injury as a mental crutch to not be aggressive in his ball use or to not take the game on with run and carry.

Pretty poor game all round but looked a very weak team on paper.

Chapman was solid and Brodie serviceable but not damaging really.

Simpson and Delean show flashes and may improve in a better team.

Reidy is a standard big body back up ruckman.

Hugh was reasonable down back and Noddy pretty rusty as you’d expect.

Injuries may mean a few get opportunities before they’re fully ready but could be a long season for Peel given the lack of availability.
any you see coming in against Port?

Think it’ll just be Raz, JOM and hopefully Darcy if fit for Tabs and then possibly Cooper or Brodie as sub.

Think Chapman will play another Peel game then in for the derby.

Hard to judge today though as it was an average game all round.

Think Davies could be an option if needed at some stage too as a Key back.

Was at the game with my son (8). I hadn't bothered to check if it was a TV game and was concerned to discover camera positions when we got there indicating it was. Back before I had children (i.e. when I used to go; now after a decade 1 of them is interested in going without prompting) I used to get picked out at WAFL matches in the crowd on tv far too often and there I was with both of us wearing matching Freo caps, him tie dye and me a Macho Man Randy Savage classic 'Macho Man' shirt. Hopefully we stayed below radar:

Chapman: A preface also to some of the other reviews but my son insisted on sitting behind the goals at the Northern end for more than half the game: Some players I didn't get a good look at. When he was playing back in the last he looked a level (more) above WAFL but it'd been the first time I'd seen him.

Davies: At the other end for me mostly. Was moved forward in the last. Has a lot of positives but given his height (a tall KPF in 2005, but not now) I'd like his decision making to be a bit more decisive.

Reidy: WAFL (A good one though)

Delean: Will now be known as "Hungry" by my son as my description of some of his antics seemed to stick in his mind. This kids wants the footy and wants to kick goals (himself). I think we really have something here. He hunts the ball carrier with speed and intent, he calls for the ball, leaps for the ball and follows up and he can carry the ball and kick long. Sure maybe I have some qualms (based on the vibe rather than anything direct) that maybe his ground game is not great, and he's clearly miles off AFL fitness and strength, but he's got that much abused term; x-factor. Also f*ck off wafl.com.au he had more than 6 touches.

Brodie: Started on a wing, moved to full time inside only once Peel were behind in the game. Looks too good for the WAFL but not long enough. If you can't outrun WAFL inside mids... He'd be delisted or budget traded if we weren't in contending territory where if you have senior body back up you may as well keep and use it.

Simpson: Did nothing of note but all the nothing was all completed 100% looking and moving like a AFL player. He took a shot from right in front of us in the last (after we'd moved back into the cattle pens on the NW wing) and he is built like an absolute machine already. He won't be playing many more WAFL games in his career.

Dris: Very rough and rusty. Encouragingly he came into it more as others wilted in the heat and stopped running imagining (correctly as it transpired) the game was over.

Bonus reflections:

- If Brady Grey could kick he'd still be an AFL player, but not only is his kicking poor he has the decision making skills by foot of a C grade ammos player.

- Middleton is a AFL player trapped in the body of a WAFL player.

- Bright is bloody close to getting a go next level up. Maybe not strong or fast enough to compete with AFL keys?

Bonus spotto:

- Wagner sporting his evil 80's "My name should be Russel" Tash and (presumably) his missus.

- The one and only Antoni Grover.

- Kim Hughes looking old and leaving at 3/4 time (Didn't he play for Perth? Is he a $ubi supporter??)

Context: I'm Tim Ruffles high on Delean and long time posters will recall I was Chris25 / Clayton Hinkley high on Ruffles..

You're a celeb now? I don't understand why you're concerned if a TV camera picked you up. Need to stay incognito? Hiding from the feds?

Yeah that's why it was an interesting move so late. Delean was getting monstered. Where are the big bodied forwards? Do Peel not have any?
the only other one we have is Voss and appears he has an injury , Seb Kuek when he comes back is very handy

Played for Claremont, but not league. I've heard him say he was a full forward. Barracks for Subiaco.

Edit: There's a paragraph about his football ability on his Wikipedia page under "personal life".

It’s a month or so now since Worner took that big hit and still no footy for him this weekend. Any cause to be concerned?
I wonder if he’s been training the last week or so, hard to say with the first team in Adelaide I suppose
