I'm not being sarcastic at all. He's going to be a gun
See my post above, I know you weren't being sarcastic, more my awkward language in replying, hopefully my later posts clarify what I meant. Sorry.

Because he’s not a 200cm bean pole key backman. Murphy has potential. Williams I assume will be delisted.

Williams, Delean, Stanley, Hughes, Aish, Taberner could all be delisted and it would be totally fine and not impact 2025 at all.
I don't think anybody's claiming Delean is a serious contender for a spot based on what we know currently. But completely delisting any player in contract is exceptional, and for a first year player it's near unprecedented.

Plus just because Delean's physical weaknesses are less notable to the eye than Murphy's doesn't mean they're not pronounced and (with the right application) fixable. He has issues with speed, endurance and probably needs to put a bit of size on. Not a great combo. Also has needed to shift his mentality (tackle numbers going up at Reserves level is a decent sign).

There's reason to doubt he makes it for sure, but with a strong pre-season he's got enough that you don't do something that drastic unless he's just flat out unwilling to strengthen his weaknesses.

Peel going forward is diabolical, so few entries and so poor, basically a long bomb to the oppo loose man. Their only goal from a 50/50 free kick.

Well Murphy (and a lot of the team) doesn't have the skills that Delean has - so maybe Murphy doesnt have potential, or maybe Delean has? Murphy is also very (ruckman) slow and won't be able to keep up with most key forwards, so he probably has very little chance of making it at AFL..

But really speaking - how about let's support the players rather than unnecessarily laying into them, especially the first years? - I am happy Murphy and Delean or on the list, trying to make a career, happy to let them have their time to try and make it and I wish them the best despite any flaws we might see in their games.

Hugh Davies trying to outdo Brennan Cox as the most useless performance of the week.

Has Aish had the biggest drop off this year of any of our players this year? Maybe but those already calling for demise and delist, when he is still in contract is silly. Still can be handy next year

Started the year on fire. 26 disposals v Brisbane. But just his speed v Wagner is different

Can't agree about Murphy. But i'm not qualified to know. Just a lay persons view.

I wasn't saying that I don't think Murphy can make it - I am trying to say that I don't see the point in picking out one player on a whim who actually had an okay game today, who is not even playing in the game we are all watching and picking them out and saying "delist material".

You know - nobody is laying into Cooper Simpson who has had 4 possessions in this game at this stage and been pretty much invisible but no let's jump on Ethan Stanley because he has NO potential whatsoever (but has at least 10 disposals for the game and actually looks like he is trying)...it's just all irrational stuff.

One team clearly wants it A LOT more.

Peel are contesting it, but have no skill or system. The way they exit defense and transition the ball with fast handballs does not suit the conditions and they are coming undone.

A gameplan that requires dry weather and slick hands and invites pressure is problematic at Freo and Peel. I don’t think Longmuirs plan, is afl level.

These aren't high draft picks or mature aged players. We are going to have to be patient.

Peel are top of the ladder before this game, seems to work just fine for them not playing in a pigpen.

Royals are noticeably harder at the ball IMO

Peel should be 5 games clear on top of the ladder with the AFL talent they’ve had available to them most of the year. Reidy, Wagner, Brodie, Sturt, Erasmus, now Aish, Hughes, Taberner, the list goes on.
