It's frustrating how often two players go to the one player leaving someone free for a handball.
The tackling pressure intent is evident - just lacking football IQ. Happens frequently in the women’s game. My instinct is let the bloke in front me go hard for the tackle and I lag off to man up on an opposition player or to be the second tackler. The girls all go for the tackle.

Thought Maddy Scanlan played well . Pretty good with the ball and good decision making .

Could see her playing on ball like Hayden Young, but she’s pretty valuable down back .

Does Sandy coach her ?

She good
Her two brothers. Both pay for Souths..
In my opinion we should have picked up Zac a couple of years ago in MSD. Wing, forward, back, ruck.
She sees the game far bettrr than most other AFLW players. Probably not the right thing to say, but she plays like a fella with her skills.

Yes she really was taking the game on , the mids were getting it on a spoon but not really taking advantage, they really need to work on their fumbles and be more confident in quick possession quick disposal.

Solid 2 goal per quarter breeze IMO; confident the chicks would get it done. Mind you, pretty drunk at the game with my dad 😂

Mim Strong! 💪

I haven’t watched much of it this year but I thought there was a really noticeable difference in the skills last night with Adelaide & North (considerably better last night).
Having said that with Strom we could potentially take anyone. She’s that much better than most out there.
Good win.

It was a very contested game, which made the style of play mostly scrappy. I thought Essendon had good pressure around the ball and when they got it they were cleaner at getting the ball away from play in dispute and out into open play, and that included in the ball ups until Mim started to make her own clearances.

It seemed like more than once or twice she was tapping/ juggling away from opponents to put herself into the clear to kick or handball away and really her individual contribution makes up the gap in those clearance stats where Essendon fall short of Fremantle. First hands reading it off her taps, it was quite even overall.

Obvious standouts Strom and O'Sullivan. Newton maybe the best of the mids, although East, didn't do a lot but won a couple of decisive takes from Strom that put it into our forward half, however there were a lot of turnovers, so Essendon had good return to attack off our disposal to get some chains of play going until our defenders intercepted. O'Driscoll again leading the way with Scanlon, Pugh and Low helping to keep things safe.

You can pretty much break down the 5 goals we kicked to individual play. Great intercept by Miller. Mim dominant in the ruck. O'Sullivan smart soccer forward. Antonio knowing how to use her strength under pressure to keep the ball alive and another piece of brilliance by O'Sullivan to seal the win. Finals footy.

Cracking game to watch live. We have some great supporters and the team engagement after the game was awesome.

Shout out to the Freo supporters who had some banter with two Bombers supporters. When the Bombers supporters were carrying on I had a giggle at the genuine question ‘how many days has it been since the Bombers last won a final.. for the men and women?’

I have some concerns of injuries during the game. Hope that I’m wrong. We also heard Ash Braz talking to some after the game that she’s in the boot for 2 more weeks. Fingers crossed she will be right for the GF hahaha.
