Good game. Very good link player across HFF but IMO he stops and starts too much, needs to play the game a bit more instinctively when he has the ball in space and take his first option and look for options a bit quicker.

was happy with his game, however has alot of improving to do. I think he plays like a basketballer (due to his background) He gets the ball, stops, and waits too long to dispose of it. Needs to play on and run alot more.

Agree totally.

He did miss Licuria about 30m out from goal with a short 20m kick that was a tad short. Would like him to consistently hit these targets but it is only his 11th game, I think.

Liked his game overall though. He WILL improve.

Is it just me or do the little baulks and dummies he does remind anyone of Robert Harvey?

Good point. He's a more athletic Robert Harvey. Obviously he isn't even half the player Harvey has been in his career, but he's clearly the most gifted player we have drafted since Didak.

Not sure if it's his Basketball background but his awareness, poise and balance while in traffic is elite.

He's improved some deficiencies from last year. He needed to stop chipping short and the past couple of weeks he has been direct to options down the ground. He also needed to pressure better, and this is also evident.

I don't mind him not running it so much. He can make plays by confusing the crap out of the opposition, buying time and finding the best option, then delivering.

He has the ability now to be more than servicable, but there just seems to be even more untapped potential in him. Just how good will he be??

pendlebury was excellent last night, you've got a gun on your hands there

we had no answers for him, same with heath shaw and to a lesser extent dale thomas - and we never have an answer for leon davis - though chicky came close

Yeah pendlebury was a gun last night. Really glad to see that so far at least Thomas and Pendlebury haven't been picked in vain.
D/ck looks like he could be good as well. As for the others who knows.
Although haven't seen him play i just like the LOOK of Dawes.

Sean Pendulbury

I think he is going to be an absolute gun in the future he has had a solid pre season and last night had 20 odd touches along with a handful of marks. A possible future captain for Collingwood I think he'll have a great season this year.

Exactly what i think. Every midfield needs different types, and his ability to find space is his strength.

Creative handball can be just as damaging as kicking it quickly, just depends on who you handball to ;)

I've made a complete tool of myself being a Collingwood supporter I didn't even spell Scott Pendlebury's name correctly as above I spelt it Sean Pendulbury :S

Yeh I love the look of Pendles. He keeps improving. I think it was Figgy who said he still has a lot of deficiencies in his game, which is true, but he's only played like what, 12 games? A lot of room for improvement. There's been so many threads about how Collingwood will 'regret' picking Thomas ahead of Ellis. What about Carlton picking Kennedy ahead of Pendles? :p

Pendles, as ive said on many occasions on this board... is on his way to being a gun for us. His style of play, is very much based on how a guard plays basketball. Quick hands, quick feet, directs traffic and disposes the ball accurately. In basketball you need to be a quick thinker, you need read the play ahead of time... but you also need to weigh up your options. I guess as he becomes more and more accustomed to AFL, he wont prop as much and will have more confidence in running & taking on players. Dale Thomas obviously has no problem in this department, however lacks the poise that pendlez has in his decision making.

Slow feet actually that is his main problem but WCE was his best to date in the real stuff - I see him as a top 20 in the comp type player.

Needs to lift intensity and must kick goals too if he is to get there.

Signs are good - we simply have to bring through a group of 8-10 high class kids at the one time- with him Dale and O'bRIEN WE ARE ON THE WAY

I love watching this kid play footy, for a second year player he has footy smarts about him and he will improve over time. The young players coming into footy today are so prepared and well coached, looking forward to seeing all our youngsters play and show us what they have. Go Pies.:)

Quick feet as in - footwork ;)

Agree on the comment regarding intensity :)

No doubt. Pendlebury has played two good games in a row. No pressure on the kid, he's going to be a very good player, but I really would like to see him win the Rising Star.

What really impressed me with his game against the Eagles was that he played like a leader. He demanded players lead to space and rewarded them when they did by hitting the target. He looks like he's got great hands and will be a guy that will get the ball around the middle of the ground to get it out of defense for us which is something we've needed badly. Pendlebury reminds me of Simon Black and I look forward to watching him get better and better as the season goes on. Now if only we could surround with guys that Black has had the luxury of playing with.

I think the thing to get most excited about with Pendlebury is that he still has quite a bit of improvement to happen as he gets more experienced. The whole running with the ball rather than stopping and propping all the time, will come as he gains confidence through experience (hope that makes sense). But he and Thomas were definitely very good pick ups for us last year.
