From an hour ago - no facts just that an in principle deal has been done
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-06-29/perth-stadium-deal-reached/8665350
The State Government and West Australian Football Commission are set to announce they have reached a deal to play games at the new Perth Stadium from next year. The ABC understands the two parties have reached an "in principle" agreement for the Dockers and Eagles to play at Burswood.

They are also understood to have agreed on a new funding model for grassroots football. It puts an end to protracted negotiations that reached a stalemate under the former government, which had to defend talk of tension with the AFL clubs, amid threats from the Eagles to stay put at Subiaco Oval. In a statement, a spokesperson for the Perth Stadium said the negotiations with the WAFC were well advanced.

I fail to see how this is a bad thing. Cheaper for the consumer, and we've historical never had enough anyway.
A lot of people have lost a lot of money so there is a down side.
An oversupply makes for competitive rates. A massive oversupply Makes for business failures which is happening.

Question is, who pays

As Kwality has been warning, i suspect freo and wce members will be the ones left without a chair now the music has stopped

From The West:
The WAFC and AFL are this weekend considering what is likely to be the State Government’s final offer on the financial package, which would support the move to the ground.

The package would see the WAFC get a $10.3 million per annum guaranteed cut of football’s earnings at the stadium for 10 years, with football’s financial performance to determine the cut of the stadium economy after that.

See you in 10 years ..o_O

Subi Council have been sitting on a "gold mine" for the last 30+ years, but were too busy squashing ( you can't do this, you can't do that etc ) the punters, to realise what they had in their grasp. Stiff cheddar Subi !!!!!!!.

Now let's hope that the cities of Vincent, Perth & Belmont are prepared to have open minds in relation to the new stadium. eg. parking, drink & food establishments, traffic movement.

You know the stadium is located in Town of Vic Park?

They've really got no options around there for parking though.

Anyone know what the thoughts are from the AFL in regards to fixturing once the clubs go to the new stadium?

Traditionally West Coast/Freo have a lot of Sunday afternoon/evening matches as the game day attendance doesn't fluctuate too much in these poorer timeslots due to the stadium being at capacity. Going forward however, the larger stadium size will mean there will be potential for larger fluctuations in attendance depending on the timeslot the clubs get and it could become more attractive to give Perth stadium games better timeslots.

Interested in people's thoughts.

It'll probably stay pretty similar TBH.
Sat/Sun afternoon and twilight games in Perth translate well into twilight/night games in Melbourne - 2.40pm games become standard 4.40pm Twilight games, and 5.40pm "twilight" games become night games. The normal afternoon match into Melbourne means a noon-ish start in Perth which is a bit early. Friday night games from Perth have to start later than at other venues because 5.50pm is too early after work.
I think we'll see a few more Saturday night spots potentially in the first year or two however, especially against bigger Vic clubs.

That Sunday afternoon/twilight time slot suits Foxtel and a start time of 2.40 in WA influences crowd sizes less than a game starting on the east coast at 4.40

I don't think there'll be much of a change

Believe it or not west coast actually requested Sunday afternoon games as a survey of their members indicated this is their preferred time slot. I guess the older demographic of their season ticket holders prefers to venture out of the house in the afternoon rather than a friday/saturday night.

Well that's annoying, I guess not much will change then

The National Rugby League’s two-day Nines festival could be the surprise event to open the Perth Stadium.

The NRL is considering staging the pre-season carnival-style competition, featuring its 16 teams, over a weekend in early February. The stadium’s official handover is scheduled for February 22.

Cricket Australia and the WA Cricket Association have said they still hope a one-day international between Australia and England could be the blockbuster first sports event at the stadium on January 28. They are willing to delay a decision on the venue.

It is still to be decided which of the State’s AFL teams will play first at the stadium. But rugby league could steal a march on the “traditional” WA sports of cricket and AFL with its short-form carnival.

The WA Government is in talks with the NRL about hosting the event to showcase the stadium but would have to pay around $3 million to secure it.

“Event announcements will be made in due course,” VenuesLive chief executive Mike McKenna said.
