Hawks have been favourites for 9 of the last 11 games.

Fair dinkum, given the psychological hold the Cats have over the hapless Hawks they could field their VFL team and still get the job done. :)
We have actually been favourites in 4 of the last 11 games... don't be silly get your facts right...

Geelong are injured and tired and in bad form. Hawks are flying, and should be fresh after a week off. Regardless of history, Hawks by rights should demolish the Cats. If this was any other team, there wouldnt even be a question of it. If Hawthorn don't win, then that is something seriously wrong with that team on some sort of mental and psychological level.

This. I'm sure I'll still be nervous as hell by next Friday night, but if we don't win then there's something seriously wrong that would probably take the players 10 years of therapy to get over.

Freo supporters just assume it is a formality that they will play off in the grand final. Sydney are as good as any side when travelling. Last night proved just how out of form Geelong are at the moment, so the Freo win the previous week is not as impressive as what they think.

Hawthorn should win this week in a canter, but anything can happen.

I for one aswell as many others aren't saying we're in the gf. As you have mentioned,i'm sure some of your supporters thought of last weeks game as a "formality" too. Home ground advantage maybe and instills a bit of confidence but a win before the bounce.. absolute stupidity

You do realise the Cats beat hawks in the last final they played against them and went on to win a flag......

Doesn't make a difference for next Friday, but sick of these statements.
Well if you lose next week it backs up my statement :thumbsu:

Its time for Geelong to win when it counts ;)

yes i realize Geelong won a final in 2011 no need for 50 people to tell me otherwise.

Well if you think that qualifying final win in 2011 doesn't count, then Fremantles win last week doesn't count either. You can't have it both ways.

But I suspect your continual posting about this has more to do with trolling than anything else.

I'm barracking for even umpiring.

As in, 'this happens at one end = it happens at both ends, during each quarter'.

From there may the best team win, whoever they are.

geelong by 5 after buddy gives away 3 silly 50 metre penalties in the last 3 minutes, franklin is seen smirking after the game.. so clarkson king hits him

Only scenario better than that would be having a team finish 9th for years and years, until one season they finally make the finals, only for the team that finished 9th in that year to be granted complimentary entry into the finals.

Then that 9th placed team beats the team that finally got its chance after years of finishing 9th.

It'd be like a friggin' nightmare....

What fantasy land did you come from not gonna happen. Best you could hope for is they favour you and not them.

* Have Franklin and Roughead push further up the ground (use them as decoys) leaving our forward 50 with plenty of space to lead into for the small forwards/mid size forwards. Create a mass confusion for the Geelong defense by going in with a small forward set up, rather then four-five key talls

* Put Jack Gunston at full forward and have him leading out of the goal square using his quick pace off the mark

* Isolate Breust, Puopolo and Rioli deep inside 50, as Geelong Achillies heel is their inability to stop the oppositions small forwards

* look for the short passes inside 50 and not kick it to a 1:1 contest that suits Taylor, Lonergan, Mackie and co

That's how we should structure up. Over to you Clarko. ;)

Thats a great gameplay... which is why it wont get used. Seems to be the way this year, some of the coaching decisions from all clubs this year have been baffling.

Have to laugh about Hawks supporters worrying about dodgy umpiring ... must've forgotten about last year's prelim...

Either way, hopefully the game is a cracker... When do general public tickets go on sale?

Hawks will almost certainly win.

The only way I can see a different result is if Hawks play sub-par football for the first three quarters and Geelong play out of their skin to be within 2 goals at 3QT. Then I would tip Geelong in a heartbeat.

Can't realistically see that happening, but I'll be cheering for them at the G Friday night regardless.

What about last year's prelim? The one and only reason you got so close is that we kicked at goal like a bunch of amateurs. In fact amateurs would probably kick better than we did in the PF and the GF.
