Welcome to the Draft Advent Calendar.

Mods, I’ll ask for your help to manage this thread.

OK, the way it works is people pop in here & post a first round (minimum) phantom draft.

If nobody has posted their phantom, feel free to add yours.

STRICTLY NO REPLIES OR POSTS OTHER THAN PHANTOMS, please.

Likes are your way to comment on the draft.

This way we each get a new phantom draft each day until Draftmas.

Anyone is welcome to post their phantom, not just experts.

I am certainly no draft expert & am leaning heavily on others. Thanks to them, by the way. If you can justify your picks, even better.

Ideally, our online community are willing and able to post a new draft each day for those of us who will be checking this forum every day.

Here goes:

  • Rich J Smith – the Nicollette Sheridan to John Cusack in that 1985 movie. Zero risk, the way the Blues have reaped the reward with their Sam Walsh pick.
  • Bris L Ashcroft – North not afraid to bid here. Premiers get probably the best in the draft.
  • NM S Lalor – Roos have enough pure mids, so go for the game-changing mid/fwd.
  • Carl F O’Sullivan – dream comes true for the Blues, as this is probably who they wanted to trade up for.
  • Adel S Draper – boring pick with respect to being different, but he looks ideal for the treacle Crow midfield.
  • Melb A Tauru – Dees take a punt as they think they can get mids later and want this impressive swingman.
  • GC L Lombard – Suns match the pick for this little dynamo.
  • Rich H Armstrong – Tigers’ build needs the best key forward in the draft.
  • Ess I Kako – Saints bid & Bombers get their forward pocket rocket
  • SK J Smillie – midfield needs work & along with Phillipou and possibly Owens, the Saints could boast a monster sized engine room
  • SK M Reid – more midfield class
  • Melb H Langford – Dees get their mid, their gamble nets them a highly rated slider.
  • Rich L Trainor – Tiges continue to build an impressive spine.
  • Rich T Travaglia – dashing half/back possibly mid, reminds me of Will Day. I really like this player & Tigers get another ripper.
  • WC B Allan – another boring same state pick like Draper to Adelaide. Sorry, but I think Allen fits here.
  • Bris S Marshall – Port Power keep the Lions honest here. Premiers just get stronger.
  • PP J Berry – The groan emitted by the Freo fans reaches as far as Alberton Park. Crafty & classy small forward looks the goods.
  • Freo X Lindsay – OK, I might be playing favourites here, as I love Xavier & this would be a dream come true.
  • GWS J Shanahan – Giants get some help for Hogan.
  • GWS T Gross – Giants have lost some run, so go for the mid, Gross.
  • WB C Hynes – mid/forward who is a game-changer.
  • Rich J Ough – good sized defender/mid for the Tigers.
  • Syd M Whitlock – tall forward / defender the Swans could use.
  • Rich A Dodson – future number 1 ruck to grow with the team.
  • GWS T Hotton – Giants take a risk on a real talent.
  • Syd J Whitlock – Swans like having brothers in the team and with the Whitlocks they can shore up they spinal stocks.
  • Rich K Gerreyn – Tigers round out the draft with a future forward/ruck that will round out a great forward line tall trio.

A Dockers fan says it doesn't need a tall like Jack W but I've declared this my last 2024 iteration.
