Pick 15! Ideas?

People dont seem to understand that Carlisle moves like an iceberg and Panos is a one trick pony.

Black I agree with.

Carlisle and Panos are still better CHF options than Talia in my book. Their capabilities might be limited but that's where development comes into the picture.

Little interview on www.westernbulldogs.com with Recruiting and Football Partnerships Manager Simon Dalrymple.

Mainly an overall picture of drafting but also a little about John Butcher as a possible #15 pick.

I found the Butcher comments interesting, do many here predict he will be still available at 15? I would think melbourne would take him at 11 if they were considering taking him at 2.

I would be surprised if he was available at 15, however, having said that, few expected Sellar to drop to 15 in 2006, so anything is possible.

One thing from that article is that Simon didn't hesitate about mentioning picks 63 and 79 which certainly gives an indication that we're looking to use 4 picks in this draft. Given the word about GOK on the forums today, that would mean;

In: Picken, Hall
Out: Welsh, Skipper, O'Shea, Wight, ROK, Eagle (vets or retire)

Which leaves 4 spots open on the list.

If Brad Sheppard is availabe he WILL get picked i will put money on this, bookmark it or watevs he will go the dougies if available.

Sheppard's like a defending version of Higgins but a bit worse. He'd be a great pick up and would set us up very well for when Gilbee and Hargrave decide to go but I'd still pick Talia if he were available because Morris and Lake will retire around the same time and we seriously need another KPD by then and this draft might be our best chance. Even better IMO would be Aaron Black, a 193cm Mature Bodied Key Position forward who is a gun.

Regardless, there hasn't been enough discussion around the Dogs' second pick (Pick 31). I think we should definitely take a small forward with it, especially if Fyfe is available because he adds a lot of X-Factor up forward and is a good goal-sneak. If not a small forward then I suppose a speedy wingman like Roland Ah Chee or Travis Colyer if he's available. We might have small forwards available at our 4th round too like perhaps Robbie Hicks or dare I say, Rhan Hooper (Even though he sucks).

sorry Shepherd does not look that good to me. Too many sloppy handballs. Kicking distance is fine but all his kicks balloon up in the air - Did not hit one leading forward target in all the reels

Best you could say is the kid likes to run and is not too bad under pressure. But is easily pashed away

You need to understand something about young players in the draft. Not all of them are quality AFL-Standard kicks. The majority of the draftees are twigs and their kicking (Disposal infact) will develop over time once they're on an AFL List. The reason Sheppard would be a good selection for us is because he's tough and is a good young running defender to replace Gilbs or Hargrave.

This kid has got Sam Power written all over him.
