Hey sorry for the late reply, when Sheppard played PSA he was a machine in the middle, but for 18s he went back and wasnt a lock down player, rather trying to create of the back flanks, he could me moulded into a hargrave or harbrow replacement. Adelaide are also fishing around for him, as a replacement for Goodwin. Skills at some time are questionable, howerver he has the tools to be a very good player, good build and good athletic abilities

Does anyone know much about Melksham?

Gun midfielder who finds the ball a lot, uses it well and gets a lot of tackles. He was quiet earlier this year but he performs awesome on the big stage as seen in the TAC Cup finals (He got BOG in the Grand Final). Not to mention, he's teammates with Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore. If we got him, he'd probably be the successor to Matty Boyd.

I just remembered. Another option worth seriously considering is Callum Bartlett at pick 31. Gun midfielder at 179cm who can play in the center, wing or up forward as he likes to kick a goal. He's got great skills, quick and he would have gone in the first round but he did his knee earlier in the year. He smells like an ideal Eagleton replacement.

I hope we get Talia or Aaron Black. Both seem a good fit, Butcher would be gold, but I doubt he'll be available.

If neither Talia or Black available, then possibly Sheppard, but I think one of those two will still be around, most likely Black.

I think Carlton will take Talia at pick 12.

Not sure I agree with that assessment. Melksham gets his 20 - 25 possessions, but I've never seen him get up to 30 possessions yet. He uses the ball well on both sides and is okay defensively. His biggest strength is his agility in that he can get dodge and weave through packs getting himself out of trouble (should be tough enough to tag if he works hard). He has good endurance and seems to be quicker then he actually is. I guess you could say he's a bit like a Dal Santo with a mix of Higgins (Young Libba is the successor to Boyd)

I picked him in the top 5 this year at the start of the year so he's had a very poor year by his standards. He found form later in the year though and I think at pick 15 he would be best available.

This is his best game for the year BTW.

Getting 20-25 possessions is a lot for a young player in the TAC Cup. Also, having watched him play in the TAC Cup Grand Final, he was everywhere around the ground, tackling, got a lot of the ball etc. Tom Liberatore is more of a Daniel Cross successor if you watch him, as the inside midfielder who delivers a lot of handballs out of the center yet, not really as classy as Matty Boyd.

GB, I have only seen young Liber in the GF this year but from what I saw he is a much better kick than Cross and not bad overhead as well. He looks like a player that will continually improve according to the level he plays. Much like Boyd has.......:thumbsu:

Is it? I must say Grand Blue I find this statement very puzzling. Both Wallis and Libba normally pick up a lot more of the ball and are underage. Scully, Martin, Cunnington, Christensen, Stevens, Bastinac, McNeil, Ledin and others all normally pick up more of the ball. All the above mentioned players have at least picked up 30 possessions or more. In 20 TAC cup matches the most Melksham has got is 28 possessions. The most he got this year was 24 in the GF.

The last time I checked Boyd gets a lot of handballs out of the center too and wins most of our clearances like Libba does for Calder. Reid is definetley the succesor to Cross, they are very much a like. And please don't mention classy in the same sentence as Boyd, thats reserved for Murphy, Gia, Higgins or Aker.

We're talking about this draft though. Scully, Martin, Trengove, Cunnington etc are more than capable of racking in the ball and as a result, are likely top 5 draft prospects. With the others, it's a matter of playing a role for your club. Did you watch the TAC Cup Grand Final? I'm pretty sure Melksham was one of the leading disposal getters and while he wasn't too consistant this year, he at least showed what we was capable of on the big stage. Another reason to get him might be the fact that he'd go well with Libba and Wallis as they're both teammates.

Yeah but Libba's not as fast as Boyd. Watching him play in a few matches, Libba just seems a lot more like Cross, diving in the packs and getting the good clean handball out. I know Boyd isn't classy but his level of class I'd say is definitely ahead of Cross as he kicks the ball (kicked quite a few goals this year too) and his work in the center this year was very nice. On the topic of class though, Wallis is a player that has it and will probably be the successor to Gia I reckon.

At pick 15? I could think of many others who I would rather. He's more a 3rd rounder in my opinion (I feel stupid that I forgot to put him in my mock draft).

Where do you think he will go?
Bulldogsman, speaking of your mock draft which was a fine effort indeed, but correct me if I am wrong but I didn't see Jasper McMillan-Pittard anywhere, I believe he could go as high as first round maybe even to us, your thoughts?

Heard that too, along with Lewis Jetta & Bradley Shepperd. Melksham & Talia expected to be gone by pick 15.

Big fan of Jasper. He'd be a good type for us, and based on what I have seen (and mind you, I'm not at all claiming to be any kind of expert as I've never seen him play in the flesh like a few here would have) I'd use a first round pick on him.

I'd be fairly confident of landing a good prospect in the first round regardless, and think a best available approach for us this year.

Anyone care to comment on Dare from the Falcons and Mark Hutchings from East Freo(?I believe) who I've liked from what I have seen?

I've seen him twice this year and once last year, he was pretty ordinary but maybe I caught him on a bad day. I would much rather Jo Dare his team mate.

What sort of player is he?

He's a rebounding defender with good foot skills and he can break the lines. The times I watched him he had poor defensive skills and needs to put on some more beef. I guess there's a lot of improvement left in him but I'd be disappointed if we got him at our first pick.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, I will say though Libba is a much better kick then you give him credit for and can kick a good goal.

In regards to Melksham I would be very happy to take him.
