I don't think he understands that it isn't actually a racist view, you are just stating facts. It IS a well known FACT that indigenous Australians have higher rates of assaults, thefts, etc. This is due to a range of social factors.

And I bet white collar crime has a higher prevalence amongst white people. Should we be reluctant in hiring white people for executive positions at HFC then? Stupid arguments are stupid. That in 2013 we're still saying that someone should be judged on their merit not their skin tone is bloody tiresome. Thankfully that we've recruited players like Hill, Rioli, Franklin and now Garlett obviously means that the recruiting staff at Hawthorn aren't blinded by pointless social statistics and rather the stats that matter.

Singling someone out as a potential problem using other "problem" players as a precedent based specifically on their shared race = not concrete racism?

We've just added some pace into our line up for next year with the addition of Garlett. The good thing about Garlett is he can also play as a midfielder and not just a small forward. Hopefully he can take this opportunity with both hands and make a long and successful career at the Hawks and not waste this chance because this may be the only opportunity he's ever going to get.

I don't see how Garlett is that much of a gamble.

We've been burned by flaky Aboriginal players in the past but I'm willing to judge him on how he performs & behaves at Hawthorn, not based on whatever mistakes he's made before now. He's been thrown an opportunity by a wonderful club and if he's smart he'll grab it with both hands.

The bolded part has NOTHING to do with what Matt Rendall raised. Nothing. It is you perpetuating the myth of the 'flakey aboriginal player' when in fact we have had far more hits than misses from that demographic in the last 15 years. I can think of countless more flakey white guys that we have been burned by.

Rendell argued that the AFL needed to provide support to underage indigenous talent to help them prepare for the regimented life of AFL. This is not because they are 'flakey'. This is because the environment of AFL is completely foreign and in stark contrast with their home environment. You may not understand what you said is racist but it is.

It sounds like he could play senior footy next year. He has had that extra year of development so will be ahead of the other two draftees.
I wish the lad well and look forward to seeing him develop over the next few years.

Dayle should go and spend some time early with Brad Hill and follow his lead. Hilly has had an enormous last 2 years.

Some struggled to adjust to the alost monk like athletes existence, but theyre not on thir own there.

Most recent were petersen and Hooper who were already of age to play and gave fair returns for the seasn or so eche were with us. Hardly list cloggers as they moved on quickly. Weve put guys of all backgrounds on the list to provide cover. Spangher Cheney etc

Others like stokes wanganeen were rookied and would have no more been a waste of a pick than the general rule

If anything they. Aboriginals. Dont seem to get to hang around as. Say thorpe and dowler. Got before being moved on

Yes, but lumping him, a triple premiership player who played 174 games for us, in with two other players who have zero premierships & 8 games between them (even if he was/is a w@nker) is not an even comparison.

And if Dayle plays 174 games & gets 3 premierships, he can be a w@nker of previous HFF proportions - premierships cancel out many character flaws.
