Actually a solid move by Hawthorn. They can use one or both of these to get Barrass, and allows WC to move on from trading absurd overs for Baker and they can bank a couple of picks to be involved in Warner discussions next year.

Sounds like we'd be worse off as those 2 future 1sts could very well be in the 20's with the FS and academy kids predicted to go early in the 2025 draft.

Rather we keep Barrass and ask Baker to sign a 1-year contract for 2025 and then pick him up next year as a UFA for nothing.

We said no to 14 and our F2 for Barrass. No chance we then give up more than that having just traded to allow us to give up less..

Tom Morris said we offered 24 and F2 for Eagles F3 and Barrass - just ahead of this trade. Eagles wanted the trade without F3. Grain of salt as always, but that's about as official as you're going to get at this tine of year (assume someone leaked ahead of pick swap trade.)
