I hear the Big fella has gput in for a job on the Jerilderie Shire driving a grader, i guess if he gets that he'll be around for a while but needs to work on his fitness.

I would be suprised is the Mayor of Jerildere couldnt get a job in his own town.

"5 games in & only 2 more rounds untill everyone has played each other once, whats everyones thoughts up untill now & how are teams lists travelling? In form/ out of form, injuries, new recruits? Need some discussion been abit quiet of late!! Cheers "

What will be interesting is the battle for fifth spot come august. We might find that it will only be a matter of percentage or 1 game in it. Probably the surprise is Strathy's current position, they were always going to drop but 1 win from the first 5 games is probably what they weren't expecting. Must have been a ripper game between Berrigan & mathoura on the weekend, seemed to be close all day, expect these teams to be up there come finals. Rovers have kicked some big scores recently so are teams struggling defensively or have deni just turned it on? Blighty and Yarroweyah might have rollercoaster seasons, same with picola, and the big question is how many games will purcell play at jerilderie this year? He will obviously be ready for finals.

Yeah i totally agree, although i think the league is very close in competition i think there are 3 sections 2 it-
1st is that Jerilderie, Berrigan & Mathoura have proved themselves so far to be slightly infront of the rest, especially jerilderie.
2nd is Deni & Yarroweyah when on will be very hard 2 beat, but how consistantly will that be is the question as both have had good wins but have also had bad loses?
3rd is Strathy, Blighty & Picola are the unknown as they have put up a couple of good efforts but then dropped off, have Players left?, is it Injuries or just a rough trot?
I suppose the next few weeks are probably the most important for all clubs as we head into the middle of the season cuase if you start to drop consecutive games it may be too hard to peg them back later in the year?? Thoughts??

It will also show which players will stay around and who will go. Also clubs may still be recruiting, so it will be interesting to see if any clubs make some big moves. Fitness will play a big part. From what i've seen of Blighty, Mathoura and Deni is that they can run out games. Still think that there will be a fight for finals between about 4-5 sides come end of the season.

Berrigan Football Club have got alot too work on before they are playing there best football. The list they have is young but when play there best they will be a very good playing group, but alot too learn and work on at the moment,
I think the comp is great at the moment and very even which is good, each week is a real test for all teams.
must win for the Saints this week.

Berrigan to host the Grand Final this year.:thumbsu:

Hey magic 1st of all congrats on getting the grand final:thumbsu:, (haven't seen the new set up at berrigan yet, but) from what i hear its been a very good facility upgrade out there, 2ndly there was talk that they were guna play both grand finals (S.E League also) at the same venue this year as they're on the same weekend, but i'm guessing as haven't heard anymore about it they're guna pick a ground from their own league, if so which club got the S.E granny? Cheers

The SE is at Barooga

now that every teams played each other once whats everyones thoughts on the season so far, good to see that its an even comp again no sides garanteed a win. 1 thing that stands out for we so far is how far strathmerton have dropped off anyone no what the go is there, injuries?, loss of quality players? premiership hangover?

would say jerilderie and mathoura are the front runners

will probably still be fairly even. after getting thumped the week before it was good to see strathy put up a strong performance despite going down by a goal. must be injuries there. yeah Jerilderie and mathoura are looking good but mathoura have really only had one big win and are only beating sides by a few goals. not sure if they're at full strength though, bit like every side really. should be an interesting game this week up at jerilderie.

What was ross andrews thinking after the game against strathy on saturday? wasnt happy with the result so tried going up to the umpires before being turned away by the umps escort. then got in a bit of verbal with strathy bench.
i wasnt close to the action so not exactly sure on what got said.
you lost the game ya dill and not going to change that, get on with next week!

Should be a good game at Berrigan this week taking on Jerilderie. Whats your tips here.

Whats everyone tips for the weekend?
massive game for berrigan taking on the ladder leaders in the dees, clearly not all think it will be a cracker match but i tipping a close one, both sides really get excited for this game and doesnt matter where each side is on the ladder is always great game,

will be a top match as mr Tough says. I'm going with Stuyd on this one, Even though saints have been a bit inconsistent this year they have started to play 4 quarters of footy, as long as they can keep couple of the dees guns fairly quiet they could sneak over the line tomorrow. The bar on that hill will be going ape shit

They were close, I must admit I was surprised they got as close as they did. Jerilderie did have a couple out I believe, but it makes things more interesting now. I thought Jerilderie were a mile ahead of everyone, good to see them get a run for their money.

So after the weekends results does it mean we are potentially down to 6 teams in the race for finals or are strathy & picola still hanging on??

Think teams will be relishing the bye this week to have everyone fit & firing for a big 2nd half of the year!! I think by the look of the results over the 1st 9 rounds with only 14 of the 36 games played having margins over 5goals its been some very good footy, looking forward to some more intersting results in the 2nd half of the year!! Enjoy the week off:thumbsu:

jerilderie, mathoura, berrigan and probaly blighty will definatly play finals
deni and yarra will be fighting for 5 which i rekon will be yarra
as for picola annd strathy its best to start thinking about next year

Have u seen enough of the footy this year pace 2 throw a side together?? How would ur team line up?

Haven't seen enough Smooth , however from what I've heard, read and seen these blokes may be in contention ?

Jerilderie - williams , Purcell , Sanderson
Mathoura - M.Sparey , T.Sparey, Higgins, Neal
Berrigan - Saunders, Walliss, M.Gorman , Jack mynard , Yelland
Deni - Bode , Moodie, Lumber ( spell ? ) , McCullouch , May, B.Hope
Blighty - J. Platfuss, D. Clarke
Strathmerton - Graham, Bunge, Carter, S. Laidlaw
Picola - Martin , Walker, Baxter
Yarroweyah - Olsen , Oliver

Looks like people have shut up shop over the week off, pretty quiet!! Anyway this is how i see this week & a pretty good round to kick off the 2nd half of the year-

1. Jerilderie (1st) V Yarroweyah (6th)- Jerilderie are probably the best drilled team in the comp so far & think they are in cruise control until finals time, yarroweyah's run will hold it with them for a half but see jerilderie running away in the 2nd half by 5goals!

2. Blighty (5th) V Mathoura (2nd)- I think this will be equally match of the round, these 2 sides are very simular in size & structures & will most likely be a fast free flowing game of footy! Maybe home ground advantage will help but see this being under a goal either way??

3. Deniliquin (4th) V Berrigan (3rd)- Also match of the round (if there can be 2) alot at stake here with these 2 sides sitting equal on wins & a game clear on 5th & 6th the winner will slip a game ahead & possibly with 5th & 6th playing the 2 top sides could open the gap up more, not sure deni's big ground will be hugely advantageous against berrigan & therefore see the saints getting up in a ripper by 8pts.

4. Strathmerton (7th) V Picola (8th)- This unfortunately is a mini final for these teams & a loss will all but end their season while a win will leave a glimer of hope & maybe kick start their run home! I believe strathy are injury riddled at the moment & picola haven't been in terrible form so i have them getting up by 20pts?

Hope everyone enjoyed the week off, Good luck 2 all sides this weekend & hopefully & exciting run home 2 the finals!!:thumbsu:

Deni rovers getting up over the saints on the weekend, rovers played well and was a good match, But berrigan are just letting something really big go right out the window, the young and talented list they have really could go on and make some problems for other sides come finals, they cant get fellas too training and therefore cant run out a full game, it becomes a real problem as the ones that go to training and do the right thing are getting punished for there team mates being not dedicated, berrigan had 5 out during saturdays match but good teams win no matter what, Rovers will give all teams run for there money come finals in saying this,

Fair swipe there tough .;):thumbsu:
I think it further proves how close the comp. is apparently Deni had there strongest side they had all year , in on the weekend . Whilst as you pointed out Berrigan had a few out , including some that had been in good form , did Saunders also do an injury during the game ?
