lol no. The only way we get pick 4 is if we land pick 10 for Bellchambers and upgrade that to pick 4, and I'd still prefer to get pick 10 and 22 rather than just pick 4

Ah fair enough, it was just speculative on my part anyway. IF it did happen though (getting 1 and 4) I'd be stoked provided we didn't give up too much.

How would we feel about crameri + our first available pick for pick 22 and Tom Campbell that would allow us to on trade say bellchambers + pears for pick one

Crameri would get pick 22 by himself

Said he still feels he's got more to give. wouldn't mind him would teach guys like Dell,Jetta on what it takes to be a mid/fwd that crumbs goals.

And then transition into our forward coach the next season

Absolutely. Compare him to a player like Dawes who attracted pick 20. Crameri has a clearly superior goal average, higher possesions & only slightly less marks per game playing mainly in a side with an inferior midfield. Dawes best year was 2010 (premiership year) with 30 goals from 20 games, Crameri's lowest since being promoted is 30 from 16 games this year. Cramers is worthy of a 1st round pick & we would be crazy to accept less. I personally believe we must keep him, he's our best foward atm & we will not be able to replace him.

Delusional.
2nd best Ruckman at our club, and an injury riddled awkwardly sized defender who played alot of VFL for pick one... Not biased at all.

Bellchambers might only be a 2nd ruck at Essendon but at most other clubs he'd be the No. 1 ruckman

Goldstein, Kreuzer, Cox, Nic Nat, mumford, Minson, Sandilands, Maric, Jacobs, Leunberger... With Longer, Grundy, Smith coming through.
Bellchos great, but he simply isn't going to get us the number one pick when paired with a solid player

Could do worse than Paul Chapman if he doesn't get another year with Geelong... Right price too...

Let's be serious here, chappy would be perfect but a guy like him who has 3 flags and a well respected career won't come to Essendon with what has happened, would tarnish himself. Sylvia is only one I would get who is talented but if Paul Roos signs then he might stay.

On the bright side about Chappy he is a knob of a bloke every time I've ran into him.

Word was that both had signed and would be announced this week.

The word was that they had agreed to terms.

Hence the Bulldogs giving Crameri a final, revised offer.

You guys and girls are too impatient. We have players like Gumbleton and Jetta who want to leave - between them we we will get a pick in the second round which is OK in the circumstances. Ideally we will hold onto the rest of our talls - Target Karnezis and Kyle Martin who fit a need and won't cost a lost.

I imagine the club will have a look at maverick Weller.

In case you missed the news in the past 14 days, we copped a $2,000,000 fine. Add the High Performace Centre we went ahead with despite not getting all the funding from the government we budgeted for and it points to Essendon wanting to save EVERY dollar we can.

Only way Jetta won't be with us is if someone comes to the party and pays a token 4th round draft pick for him.

To get rid of his salary we may need to downgrade a pick! This has happened before with David Bourke and Jade Rawlings...

Trade aggressively, I'm trying to think of any other club that did that successful.
Brisbane - No
Fremantle - No
What other clubs then?

These clubs jut filled in gaps in their premiership window
Collingwood - Ball/Jolly
Hawks - Lake

Swans are the only consistent ones when it comes to trading but you can do that with an extra million eg. Player on minimal wage an short deal, swans offer 50k more a year and an extra year. That's how they got Mumford and Kennedy to leave easily.

So what aggressive trades do you think Essendon should do?

You've missed some:

Hawthorn recruited mature age Stewart Dew to win a flag.
Geelong traded big for Ottens. Also traded for Cam Mooney. Resultant flags.
Hawthorn recently traded big for Burgoyne as well as Lake. Flag favourites...

Essendons premiership window is now until Watson/Goddard retire (both are 29 next year). I'd sooner rather win a flag in this current window than worrying too much about 5 years down the track. Dal Santo should be priority no.1.

I thought Collingwood handled free agency very well.

They traded out Dawes and Wellingham for very decent picks.

And then picked up a couple of very similar players in Lynch and Young.

Sure their best 22 was fractionally weaker, but they got full value for two players and mitigated their loss by recruiting via free agency.

We could adopt this model somewhat to cover the next two years penalties.

This is basically what I've been talking about - trade 2-3 players to get back into first round and free up salary cap to bring in the likes of dal santo or Sylvia.
