Swan and Pendlebury

vs

Ablett and Knights

I'm heading towards option 1 but I'm worried about having both Swan and Pendles in the same team. Any thoughts? Cheers.

This has been killing me for weeks and I would like to hear a few opinions:

David Hille + Jimmy Bartel + Steven Hill (On field) + Suban (Bench)

vs

David Hille + Dane Swan + Jack Grimes (On Field) Steven Hill (Bench)

Vs

Hamish McIntosh + Jimmy Bartel + Jack Grimes (On Field) Steven Hill (Bench)

vs

David Hille + Jimmy Bartel + Jack Grimes (On field) + Suban (Bench - No Hill at all)

Between the 2nd and 4th option for me, if grimes is your only risk (as in no raines, JWS etc) then i really like the 4th option for the extra points and added captaincy security Jimmy gives you

Would really appreciate thoughts on the following choice.

Pick two of the following three please:
Houlihan, Skipworth, Grimes.

Houlihan - discounted and should do quite nicely in the Carlton forward line with the probable improvement of midfield.

Skipworth - Should do quite well with Welsh out injured, has had great pre-season form. Knights loves him and he is keen to prove himself.

Grimes - Very cheap, high scoring potential.

I realise all are potentially not in 22, especially Grimes. Reason for two is that I can shuffle appropriately, and I'm really only interested in opinions on these three not potential alternatives.

Thanks guys!

Houlihan - Should be able to return to his '06 and '07 form and score about 75-80 but may have cheap possessions taken from him by guys like Chris Johnson, Carrazzo, Waite and Gibbs. Currently priced ~56ppg so should increase 80k if he scores 75ppg.
vs

J Riewoldt - Selection would be more based on a natural progression, better supply from the midfield and potentially being targeted more as a KP forward. Would be looking for him to increase his rating to 75ppg (which he should be able to do if he averages 3 kicks and 1 mark more per game and can kick 2 goals pg). His score would increase about 74k if he were to score 75ppg. Would also be a more unique pick that Houlihan.

Are these expectations on Riewoldt too high? Is a 70-80k rise (to about 320k) out of mid priced players such as these enough?

Current thoughts:

S Johnson + Mackay vs Houlihan + Selwood/Pendles

Mackay is a bit of a risk, but SJ is a definite keeper. Houlihan is a safer cheap-option, but if Selwood/Pendles doesnt come on (95+) it could be dtrimental to the team.

Thoughts?

Guys i got a tough choice to make....

J.Selwood Vs M.Boyd

Both players valued at similar prices and both with huge scoring potential.

Selwood is about to play is 3rd year of footy and is already classed as a gun midfielder. He goes in hard and racks up the possessions (like most geelong players). However with these trends he is a high priority tag option. He IMO is 2nd behind Ablett for the priority tag and this could weaken his ability to score well depending on the side he faces. But even being tagged he still manages to find the ball and signs suggest he is only going to get better.

Boyd on the other hand isn't high up on the tagging priority lists at all, infact Boyd is considered a tagger. He like Selwood is bloody consistent and scores well even if the dogs are winning or losing (a good trait to have). Last year he finished 9th for overal points (2332, average of 93.4). So he is a proven scorer. With West gone and Higgins stepping up in the midfield i feel Boyd will produce a similar result to 08, if not better. He has also been good so far in the Nab cup games with scores of 96 and 83. Boyd will also be alot less popular than Selwood and being more unique can be great to get an extra edge against other teams.

Thoughts?

PS. I accidently posted this first in wrong thread, so posting it here.

Lockyer and Lucas

vs

Houlihan and D.Thomas

I'm really put off by Lucas ATM so I'm thinking option 2. What do others think? Cheers.

As you said, I think you could gain an edge against others if you take Boyd. Not many people will pick him and personally I think he'll average more than Selwood.

I would say option 2, just because I think now Daisy has found the position he suites and Houlihan is less of a risk then Lucas.

As you say all the time Porps, 'Be carefull he has been trialled here for 1 game' I cant believe so many people would jump on after just 1 NAB cup game.

Sound familiar Porp's:rolleyes:

Im stuck on this selection which will just about finalize my team. Who would you take out of;

Ottens, Burton and Roughead

or

McIntosh, O'Keefe and L. Davis

or

Ottens, Petrie and Porplyzia

or

McIntosh, Harvey and McPhee?

Any thoughts would be great because i really cant decide which one to have. :thumbsu:

Ablett, HMac and Yarran

v

Swan, Hille and Beams/Anthony/Blease etc.

Bearing in mind that Ablett wouldn't be my only genuine captaincy option (not that Swan is a bad choice).

Second option for me.

Newman, T. Tuck, Lucas
v
S. Fisher, Anthony/Beams/Robinson, Sylvia

All three starting.

Fisher, Lucas + best you can afford for me.

Fisher > Newman
Lucas > Sylvia (and cheaper)
Then you have more options in the mids.

I've got another one:

Hille v Petrie v Sandi v Simmonds

I already have a fair few Dons players.

Mind explaining why?
