Player Comparison Thread - Part 3

Now my turn (pretty similar to your players really):

1) Hodge, Richo, Adcock
2) Bock, Didak, Enright

Leaning towards 1 in the hope that Adcock can regain his 07 form and become a keeper.

I'd go option 2 if you are going for a league win as should be more consistent and more likely that they all play 22 games. If going for overall though, I'd take a punt on option 1 ... If Adcock gets back to 07 form and If Richo can remain injury free and play like last season and If Hodge stays on the park (suspension etc) then there could be a massive upside for you ... lots of "ifs" but that's what makes this game fun!

My question ... assume that you want to have Ablett, Bartel, Corey and Kornes in your side as soon as possible (Which I guess most teams would like to do!) ... what order would you "aim" to get them in ... eg Ablett (R1), Kornes (R1), Bartel (R6), Corey (R11) etc. Which would you get now and which would you expect to drop in price in the early/mid part of the season?

wat do ppl think

Fevola vs Leon davis ?
i think both players have a good upside. fev will be in for perhaps an even bigger year than last year (dt wise), mainly because of the quality of the midfield that is developing around him. judd is fully fit, gibbs will be a gun this year and murphy should also improve. the delivery to fev will be first class and carlton will be an improving team..should make top 8. leon davis will spend some time in the midfield, although i think he is a bit inconsistant. fev for mine

im really stuggling to pick my second GUN midfielder.

narrowed it down to

S. Thompson
D. Swan
L. Hodge (wont be using him as a back)
K. Cornes

who would be the best choice there? or do people think i would be better off going maybe a shane tuck or joel selwood and using the 50k elswhere?

i've seen mention a couple of times of rounds 1 and 6 been times to do trades. is that to do when peoples value's get adjusted depending on how they've gone through the season so far or are they just randomly picked rounds?

i would most likely chose gia. harvey is getting on a bit now and i have never really liked him as a DT'er. didak is an undiciplined tool but then again he could possibly be the highest scorer from the three. gia will be the most consistant and there is no doubting his incredible durability. i also think gia's midfield time will go up this year and he should average somewhere around 95.

Swan + C. Morton

v

S. Tuck/J. Selwood + C. Knights

Swan and Morton ... Morton could be a surprise this season ... should at least get plenty of opportunities as the Dees develop their youngters.

McPhee v Thomas v Drummond (can switch Houlihan between possies)

Would probably go Drummond if you can handle the risk associated with him. Have doubts over McPhee as some games he looks completely out of the game, and the bombers don't go out of the way to get him the ball. Thomas, I'm not keen on, but I don't really like him as a player so he's never really been in my thoughts.

1) Hodge, Richo, Adcock
2) Bock, Didak, Enright

Appreciate the feedback on the above guys, but I just thought of another variable for a new set of combinations for your input. This is getting beyond ridiculous, and I wish lockout would just come!

Anyway...

1) Hodge, Richo, Adcock, Selwood
2) Bock, Didak, Enright, Selwood
3) Bock, Pavlich, Adcock, Swan

Cheers!

^^I like either option 1 or 3... It's a lottey between them as I can see te Hodge V Bock, Swan V Selwood differential evening out. Would probably lean to 3 as I prefer Pav > Richo.

I'm finding my forward line really hard to finalise this year:

I'm going to go with 3 premiums. At the moment I've got Pav, Gia & NGBrown... I'm definitely starting with NGB but the other two I keep chopping and changing between Delidio, Didak, Harvey, Chapman and variations there of. Any advice on the other two premiums you'd start with giving price is not an option (not interested in Richo).

Also my last forward. I'm tossing up between Yarran, Zeibell & Hentschell. Ideally I'd prefer Zeibell for scoring potential but there is no guarentees on his place in the team. Hentschell has him covered in that dept, whereas Yarran seems like a bit of a compromise between the two. What are people's thoughts on this one?

I'd go with Delidio and maybe Didak.

Yarran may be a few weeks before he is in the senior team ... Hentschell is probably the safe bet but if you can handle the "Laidley factor", I'd go Zeibell.

Sam Butler + $41k vs Paul Hasleby??

I have gone with Hasleby, but have seen a few good wraps for Butler. Personally don't know enough about him or his place in the team to pick him.

Broughton or Suban ?? Who is likely to get more games early?

They are both virtually locks for at least the first round, and the most likely to play out of the rookies down back. I've got both of them on my bench and I'll be confident at least one will play each week in the early rounds.
Scrounge around the Freo board for the best info on it though; you will see all the fans including them in the round 1 teams.

Thoughts on:
Farren Ray (Mid) + Simon Goodwin (Fwd)
OR
Bryce Gibbs (Mid) + Dale Thomas (Fwd)

I get the impression F. Ray will do pretty well with the Saints and reckon it is about time for him to break out, yet I don't want to miss the wave for Gibbs.
Goodwin is a solid, reliable option up forward, while Thomas is risking though is showing some good signs in the preseason.

Sam Lonergan v Ben Johnson v T Tuck v Paul Haselby v Brent Reiliy

(will get 2 out of the 5)

I would steer clear of Johnson definitely, and personally I wouldn't get Lonergan either.
The other three have the best potential to improve, though not without risk.
Hase and Reilly you know are both in their teams best 22, but risk injury, where as Tucks problem is being pushed out of the side if he isn't performing.

Tuck didn't dominate in the game where it was Box Hill v Adelaide which I didn't really like. Still he has potential to score well, and the Hawks fans rate him, so it is up to you.

Lonergan is in Essendon's best 22 and will play every game barring injury. Same goes with Hase and Reiliy.

Only thing is Longeran has no injury worries and i can count on him to average about 70.

So then why don't you just pick Lonergan then instead of asking in the thread?

Sorry, i just wanted to get people's ideas on his upside and whether you think it would be worth getting him given he might only rise 10ppg in average.

Ideally both choices will need an upgrade.
