Sorry, i just wanted to get people's ideas on his upside and whether you think it would be worth getting him given he might only rise 10ppg in average.

Ideally both choices will need an upgrade.

Nah don't apologise, just sounds like you are pretty intent on Lonergan. You should also know more about him being a Bombers supporter, so back your instincts.
I personally don't see him as a big DTer though, and I don't see him with an upside like that of Hase, Tuck or Reilly.

In saying that, I don't have any of the guys you mentioned so read into that what you will?

You decide, but;
Ben Johnson isn't even a certainty for round 1, I would be surprised and annoyed if he was, so steer clear.

Lonergan is a safe bet, like you said he should play 22 games (form permitting), but I haven't seen anything that is going to suggest he will score any differently to last year. Steady and safe performer I guess.

Tuck has a big potential upside, but poses a risk of being pushed out of the
side. I personally don't think he is worth the risk.

Haselby is assured of playing and will undoubtedly increase on his price, he is definitely worth grabbing if you are willing to hold onto him for a while. He won't blast out of the blocks, but he will score as well as Lonergan IMO but will increase in price far more.

Reilly I don't really like, to risky... The bloke can't string a bunch of games together and you are just gonna end up wasting a trade.

If you can afford Johnson, I would consider looking at Adcock.

Adcock and Haselby/Lonergan wouldn't be bad.

matthew boyd what are peoples thoughts? just over 400 grand but soled perfromer and underated! is he worth it?

I would steer clear of Johnson definitely, and personally I wouldn't get Lonergan either.
The other three have the best potential to improve, though not without risk.
Hase and Reilly you know are both in their teams best 22, but risk injury, where as Tucks problem is being pushed out of the side if he isn't performing.

Tuck didn't dominate in the game where it was Box Hill v Adelaide which I didn't really like. Still he has potential to score well, and the Hawks fans rate him, so it is up to you.

Hard to dominate when your team only scores 33 points. He scored the most DT points out of any Hawk that day according to the Freako newsletter, you can't ask for much more than that.

This is more of a fantasy football question than a dreamteam question, but I’m hoping you guys can help.

I have a trade offer of:-

Give – Tredrea
Get – Vezpremi

Money is irrelevant. The way of the league works is there is a draft, once a player is selected he is assigned to that team. Scoring is the same as dreamteam. 6 starting Forwards, 6 backs, 5 mids, 1 ruck.

Now I know Vezpremi is out for 8 weeks but I do have a few forwards to cover the missing spot (Tredrea would be starting for me) e.g. Alwyn Davey, John Anthony, Linsay Thomas.

Really it’s a question of who will average more in the games they play.

For Tredrea, I’d say 70-75??

For Vezpremi, maybe 75+??

Any help would be appreciated.

2 spots left in my team:

* Gibbs v Selwood v Salopek

* Robinson v Steven (on the bench)

selwood will win the brownlow and the signs are there from the nab cup or possibly gibbs set to explode and be one of the big guns of 2009

i got selwood had gibbs.

salopek umm... yeah maybe but he is a consitent 90 whereas the others will bag some and be 90 and 100s

No way in hell you should do that trade. Veszpremi only averaged 55 last year if you include the finals series and Sydney will be bottom 8 this year, plus as you said he'll missed about 8 games.

Thanks.

I guess I'm looking at potential more than anything and Vezpremi averaged 65 in his four H & A games, had an average game in his first final and only played half of the 2nd final as he was injured.

Tredders averaged 70 and I don't really seem him improving on that (plus there's the injury concerns).

Any other opinions?

gopower help me!

Hmm. I had some guy give me a visitors message before for DT help. I seem to be getting a bit of a 'helper monkey' reputation. But oh well:

Ellis is injured, so no.
Houli I rate, but apparently his spot in the 22 is questionable and he's a bit out of favour with Knights, so once again no.
Macdonald and Pratt are about the same. Both improved massively DT-wise last year. But IMO Jesse Smith could steal a lot of points off of Pratt, who was played as a negating defender in '07 when Smith played most games. Pratt had two 70+ scoring years either side of the only year where Smith has managed to play a decent number of games, and barely averaged above 50 the year Smith played regularly.

So from that list I'd go
1. Macdonald
2. Pratt
3. Houli
4. Ellis, but tbh I don't rate any of them that highly. If by any chance you have someone in another position who can also be picked as a back I'd swap them because there are better options in that price range for all positions.

For the other question, not 100% sure Birchall is fit to play Round 1 but the injury list on Footy Classified last night didn't include him, so that's a good sign. He and Sewell are more reliable but Gram and Pendlebury have more upside (not to say that Birchall and Sewell don't have upside, but their ceilings are a bit lower). Your call.

And BTW, Salopek is more than a consistent 90. Averaged 94 last year including a lot of 100+ scores and one massive 144, would have averaged 99 if it wasn't for injury-affected scores. Has played some time at HB in the preseason but has still scored pretty well. IMO he'll average 100+ if he can stay injury free this season, but that's a big if with his history.

Mcmahon vs Gilbee plus 30k vs Gram plus 30k

is there much of a difference between all three..they all play silimilar roles...the 30k would allo me to upgrade cross to swan

Any two of Sewell, Van Berlo, Knights, Kade Simpson.

I am going for the league win so I do not mind that Van Berlo may miss early.
