By my own notes, in addition to the 14 players coming out of contract (+hogan in 17) listed in previous posts, the following players are also set to come out of contract this year:
- Frost (assumed 2 yr contract, 2014 trade)
- Newton (assumed 2 yr contract, 2014 delisted free agent)
- Smith (assumed 1 yr contract, 2015 rookie draft)
- Trengove (re-signed for 1 yr in 2015)
- Tyson (assumed 3 yr contract, 2013 trade)
- Vince (expires in 2016, but has a 1 year performance based option to extend the contract)

If anyone could provide confirmation to the contrary for Frost, Newton, Smith or Tyson it would be appreciated.

Also, FWIW - Smith, Bugg and Kennedy aren't mentioned in the OP.

From memory i think Vince signed a new contract

Based on the list in the first post here's my thoughts:

Definitely keep: Jetta, Kent, McDonald x 2, Trengove, Vince, Wagner, Watts
Done their time: Terlich, Jones
Maybe another year?: Pederson, Michie
Trade-bait: Dawes, Grimes
Haven't seen: Max King, Mitch White

Disagree re: Dawes. Would keep him over Pedo for sure. His impact last two weeks just to createa contest, and the amount of distance he covers in a game sets a great example.

If we don't re-sign at least ONE of T. Mcdonald, Kent, Jetta or Watts before this week's game, I'll be pretty frustrated.

To have at least four of our best 22 OOC at this stage of the year is worrying to say the least.

I seen an article about Jack Grimes, what ever happened to him? He was a skipper for a few seasons, played pretty good football now he cannot get a look in. As a small defender, with good foot skills he would be a good addition to a few backlines in the comp.

It's a good question. You can't really fault Grimes' endeavour or contested work, it's more so that he apparently lacks the offensive skills to get a look in at the moment. He played about 11 or 12 games last year and none this year - no surprise it has been this season when we've transferred to a more aggressive half back line.

I'd be sad to see him go but would like to see him get a game elsewhere if it means he can keep playing.

VFL review this week:

Max King: He had three possessions, three tackles and six hit outs. Max didn’t have one of his better performances. He’s going to have some inconsistencies with his performance, but we’re trying to keep it really simple with him. For Max, it’s about consistency of effort to be able to compete and get the ball to the ground. He’s got good agility and speed for a ruckman/forward, but he’d be the first to acknowledge that his performance wasn’t as good as he’d like. But we’re working hard with him on making the gap decrease a little bit. We’re continuing to develop him – and it’s not just about possessions and goals. It’s about consistency of effort and competing at the level we need him to. I’m sure he’ll continue to keep working hard.

Surely he's in trouble?

So was Trengove. I think it was more a reflection on just where the club was at that time. At any other club at the time the players in question would be looked at as prospects still not captains

Read last night that contract negotiations with Dawesy have stalled.
Surely at our end!!

Most likely, but it's hard to be sure these days. Maybe there has been interest from another club? Maybe he is giving himself a chance to show something in the last six games (if he even gets a look in)?

I like Dawes but he hasn't done enough to warrant anymore than a one year deal. Especially with a couple of good talls coming through.

Agree, has always tried pretty hard when picked but his body has let him down a bit too often now and his skills look worse each time he plays

Never in doubt.

Really only leaves Tommy Mac as the final important signing for 2016 (will worry about Hogan later).

I think with each day that goes by i get less convinced that he'll stay but maybe the other dominos falling around him might push him closer to signing on.

whats chris dawes value?

I know you're desperate for a key forward but surely you're not THAT desperate.

I would take a 4th rounder for him, or even let him go for nothing if it frees up cash for Hogan.

Realistically if the club were to decide to trade him I'd expect we'd probably ask for a late 2nd/early 3rd rounder, or have him as steak knives in some deal.
