Operation 'Get Wingard' has just kicked-off on North Melbourne's board. #lolnorf
Damn you. You made me look and I saw Pick 10 and 28 for Polec and Wingard. I'll never forgive you for this.

Having watched quite a bit of Mayes over the last few years. I actually like him a lot, he handles the ball really well, and is a good decision maker. Seems lost as a defender, and agree too that his move there was a failed experiment that has stalled him, and sort of left him on no man's land.

Voss and Rocky would have an excellent input into his worth at Port. As a context, he has clocked 101 games at Brisbane, which is not bad at all (Toumpas from the same draft = 37). Dropped to the NEAFL a bit this year, but IMO he is definitely AFL standard, and could fit into an AFL side given a preseason with a club, and played in position. At worst, we are short on depth at the Power, and the Maggies side needs experience. If he costs us nothing, then absolutely go for it.

So will be interesting to see.
Where did Vossy play him?

It is school holidays.

But then some douchenozzle in the Mail reckons pick 7 from dogs will be plenty for a contracted Wingard.

Michael Hartley delisted by Bombers. 198cm KPD. 41 games in 3 seasons. Always looked OK to me. Fair contested mark and kick. Probably not first 22, but depth and could release Doogs for other roles too. Worth a rookie spot? In the main draft, does anyone rate Ben Jarvis of Norwood?

How would people think about this for 2018 trade business

Polec & Neade to North Melbourne for Pick 10
Amon to Hawthorn for Pick 51
Hombsch to Gold Coast for Pick 38

That then leaves us with 9,10,21,27,38,45,46,51,81
81 used for Houston
51 used for Mayes
45 & 46 for Gold Coast 29 & 72
10 & 38 for Adelaide 19 plus McGovern pick

Leaves us with 9, McGovern pick, 19,21,27,29, 72

6 picks in the Top 30

Why? If Freo gets Bris Pick 4 they will not trade away the picks neither will Gold Coast or Carlton.
So assumingly Carlton get Walsh Gold Coast get Luko and Rankine/Rozee. St Kilda pick up King. Freo get the next 2 and then the Bulldogs then get Rozee if he's not picked. And then the Crows will pick up any top SA player that's not picked probably Hateley. So I don't see any way that we can get 2 top end SA prospects at 9 & 10 hence trading one away but keeping 9 in case a top end player such as one of the Kings or if by miracle Rozee is there at 9. If the Crows try to trade up then that all changes but with the Cows picking at 7 that is a major problem for us with 9 &10. I don't see any point trading to 4 because the player we will want will probably not be available anyway so why not trade into that next tier of SA players such as Valente etc. The only issue is if the Cows have 7 & 10 they might be able to trade for a higher pick to get Rankine but if you're not thinking about blocking them its a good strategy.

McGovern pick? No way it's 1 and I think Carlton will offer next years for Shiel, leaving only two mid 20s picks for him stupid to give up 10 + 38 for 19 and 25.

Voss only had him for his first year in 2013 (Voss' last year). Played him mainly on the wing, a few times in the center & forward. Came off the I/C a few times, and one game as green-vest sub. Named in their Best On Ground a few times, and picked up the Rising Star in round 12. Not a bad first year, alongside some ripper names!

Sounds horrible.

Ben was great in the champs game I saw at Alberton. Don’t know if he’s done much else. Wouldn’t bite until rookie draft

Release Doooogs...yeah from CHB to CHB...must stay and grow as a key DEFENDER....he still can add more strings to his bow and one aspect comes to mind...add the intercept marking component and he will be a REAL STAR..no need to play Dooogs anywhere else more so now we look like bringing in Lycett

Band 2 compo for Lycett is laughable. I doubt any club would have given up anything near pick 19 for him.

Disagree. AFL standard ruckmen are hard to come by - we should know, having not developed one since Dean Brogan in the early 2000s. This guy was just lead ruck for the premiership team, he has plenty of value on the open market.

If we pick-up Mayes I feel he's more of an upgrade on players like Amon & Barry as options off a wing, so for a cheap pick, I'd be doing it on that basis alone.

I think we're pretty solid for half-back flankers, even with Pittard probably leaving, unless Mayes can play as a third tall then he might be ok to replace Hombsch, but I'm not sold on that.

Yeah pick 19 is probably about ball park for a relatively scarce proven commodity.

Let’s be quite honest though - Lycett only led the ruck unit because Nic Nat was injured. This places him in the same bracket as Trengove, Lobbe, McKernan, Simpson, Ceglar etc.
