3. Thompson kept getting it and belting it forward 8 clearances.
2. Lawrence Great game, also played well last week and his 2nd best game with the club.
1 vote I gave to Hayes for dominating the game before he went off, once off we started to get beat, set up each of the first quarter goals. Black and Moyle were probably next in line. Here's hoping that Moyle can step up to fill the breach over the next few weeks with Aussie and Harvs. Not happy with the Hayes incident as it was almost possible to have a full strength team over the next few weeks with Kosi, Gherig Hudghton also due back soon.

I want to know how you got away with the thugs comment!!

I posted on here saying how appalled I was at the game against Brisbane and got ripped apart by one eyed Lions!!!

Multiple choice question

Commentary.................

a. Gehrig handballs 20 metres along the boundary line........
b. Spider Burton hands off the ball in the goalsquare...........
c. Everitt, grabs him by the jumper, lifts him up, drops him, lifts him up drops him, hands free the whole time, 1 metre from the boundary.

Which one is a free? a,b, or c?

Hardest game ever to give votes, solid team effort in the first half, none in the second.
I've gone for

3.Peckett (closest to 4 quarters)
2.Hayes (dominated first half, ran out of puff)
1.Thompson (keeps going)

Answer of course is (d)
North player kicks wildly in pack, proceeds to punch opposition captain, is remonstrated with, gets free + 2 x 50m penalies for soft goal.

The interesting thing with that one is at the next pack in the middle of the ground, Milney is just bending over the top of the players on the ground and Kingy gives him a knee to the hammy. Nothing major, but obviously trying to provoke a reaction.

v Adelaide Amy's

Always harder to give votes off the tele, especially with Fox Footy's penchant to show 2sq m of the play and to give us as many facial close ups as possible. Does anything happen off the ball? Positioning, sheperding jostling etc.
They wouldn't know at Fox Footy
Is there any other sport in the world covered in this manner?

I was there Falchoon & reckon your votes are spot on. Jones was easily your best on may even get 3 Brownlow votes. Gehrig was you your most dangerous forward all night & Thomson never gave up trying. Cheers.

v Carlton "Rabble"

Huge first quarter
Dismal 2nd
Break even 3rd
Good solid 4th

Oh for 4 quarters, even the West Coast game we were scoreless in the 4th, good win nonetheless.

The 3 votes was easy, the 2 & 1 could go to anyone of a dozen.

3 Baker, best game at the Saints? Took Camporeale apart and kicked 2 goals to restore a gap in the game once Carlton had closed to 5 points

in the mix

Black, getting better each game, finish the season off and be a B&F contender next year.

Everitt, good game, McKernan did well too.

Gehrig, solid in defence, gets a goal a quarter in the fwd line, never lets his opponent kick more than 2 and still looks like he's going half pace. Interesting comment on the radio that he gets injured when a butterfly lands on him, does the job though.

Hamill, solid usual hard working game, straight kicking.

Hayes, slowed down since being thugged in Brisbane.

Hudghton, how important is this guy?

Jones, good run, Hickmott got a couple on him.

Lawrence, has been good up forward, 3 goals is a sensational return on top of everything he brings to the team.

Loewe, did everything asked, 10 marks, 2 goals

Milne, sensational first quarter, one of the best individual quarters this year, behind Kosis first v Fremantle. 3 goals again, at least 7 direct assists to shots on goal. Comment in the first Q was who's on Milne, "Mansfield" came the reply, no, seriously!

Moyle, huge in the first q, some great gane breaking handballs, is important to this team. Getting fitness back should see him running games out better on the way home.

Peckett, good month, takes people on, breaks the lines.

Riewoldt, started and finished well, going well when takes 10 marks in 23rd game and not really considered for votes.

Schwarze, running, rebounding and safe with the ball, he Black and Jones are great out of defence.

Thompson, poor disposal game, smothering, tackling, brilliant as usual.

Begley did the job in the 4th which was great to see, Beetham did not.

V Drop yer head Dockers

3. Moyle, Four quarter effort, handballs open up teammates, great game. Needs to hit players on the lead better though, but does it at full pace.
2. Riewoldt, poor first half, second half swap to CHB saw him dominate and set the victory up.
1. Gehrig, again relatively poor first half, but as a direct opposite to Riewoldt went forward and dominated, poor kicking should have seen him kick 5-6 minimum. Straightened the team up and prevented Freos easy back half marks that were all too prevalent in the first half.

Anyone get the feeling that our team is becoming very unpredictable as the majority of players can play well (and poor) at either end of the ground

Keep up the good work Falchoon

It will be interesting to see how the best and fairest voting compares to yours.

Personally I would have had the same three players in the votes as you but would have given Riewoldt the three, Gehrig the two and Moyle the one vote. While Moyle was probably the more consistent, I think the other two overcame a poor first half to win us the game. A fit and firing Moyle is something we've missed all season and I can't wait till next year where he'll provide great support to the likes of Harvey, Hayes, Thompson and Black.

You're right about the unpredictable nature of the side. I don't think that will chance until players like Riewoldt, Gehrig and Koschitzke and the club find the position they are most suited to. As we aren't going to make the finals, it's an ideal opportunity to continue rotating the side around. Grant Thomas seems keen to play Nick Riewoldt as a centre half back in the future and there's no doubt the club have looked to switch Fraser Gehrig forward when the chance presents himself. Moving Fraser forward is dependent on the likes of Hudghton, Schwarze and Riewoldt (when down back) performing well. I'd think Koschitzke would also be a key defender but at 197cms he may also be looked at as another ruck option.

It's the beginning of an exciting time at the club and I'm sure the members of the football department will be spending many hours trying to decide where exactly the best positions for these players actually are.

v Primus' Port

Hard to give votes again off the TV but here goes.

3. Hudghton, outplayed favourite for AA CHF.
2. Thompson, always our best in losing games, probably a worry because he stands out in tackles and clearances every time we lose meaning everybody else is not standing up. Can win a B&F in a bad side but not in a good side IMO
1. Hayes getting back to pre thugged form, 2 good goals and disposal was good.

Missed Begley, is looking good on the past few weeks form. Has a habit of taking marks and not going back far enough that needs to be overcome. Riewoldt, future superstar probably needs to be a little better by foot, in any comparison with Kosi I think Kosi is a better disposer of the ball.

Absolutely, Kosi would be easily in the top 10 for best disposal at our club. We've missed his skills, marking & football brain.

3. Hamill...........HUUUUUUUUUGGEEEEEEE
2. Riewoldt.......beats another All Australian
1. Hayes..........3 super hard workers, Hamill, Hayes and Thommo.

Is Justin Peckett the only St Kilda player who can hit a leading forward.
Progress is being made, we're getting there, set shots need to be a priority.
Interesting to see 4 Saints players tackle Wulf after his second mark on the line ;)

A job VERY well done this year Falchoon.

Cheers mate, next year all us Sainters should meet up for a beer before a game!

All the best.

Great effort Falchoon

Next year we'll all have to put our votes in. I'm sure when we have a better season next year we'll have a lot more regular posters to this board.

In the meantime, come October 2nd I reckon you'll be very close to the final best and fairest results.
