General speaks the truth though in terms of being big isn't the only key. Think we all know core strength and technique would be more important in terms of tackling for example.

However size and how to use it can work well, even for mids. Watching Judd get monstered by Lewis and Sewell (both big bodied mids) last season sucked TBH. Hell even Mcphee smashed him around in a game a season or so ago.

Hurley looks like he is channeling Fev, with his bulky arms and his little flavour saver facial hair thing. Dye it black and they'd nearly be the same bloke. Let's hope for everyone's sake they haven't been liaising.

Funny how many people are in here saying Hurley looks fat, unfit etc.

Fear; the only rational reason I can see for posting such tripe.

Howlett got him a beauty too.

Judd is a victim of his own brilliance. Against Melbourne, he had an opponent and a third man who would turn his back on the play to watch Judd. Probably a bad strategy because it frees up Murphy and other players down the line.

It's also about a player's will to compete and not be beaten. Kade Simpson is slight, yet plays like a man possessed. In a must win game in 2010, Simmo bumped Jobe Watson off the ball because he didn't want to concede an easy kick on their half forwardline. Resulted in a rebound that produced a goal.

Against one man, Judd is fine. Was far too big for Howlett after he outmarked him and hit Kreuzer up against Carlisle. Gave a gimme to Walker after he monstered Joel McDonald one out and bumped him under the ball.

So you're saying one on one Judd is unbeatable?

Not my club but I often peruse AFL club facebooks when I'm bored at work.

Jack Redpath- 21 year old new Bulldogs rookie draftee. He's been mentioned in this thread but this is the first picture I've seen of him.

Nathan Djerrkura looking very manpower-esque.

Don't know this guy's name. I know he is tensing and isn't that big, but notice the difference between his arms and legs. Bit of a contrast.

Edit: could be Skinner?

It amazing how the physique of the game has changed. I remember when I was a young kid and the first guy to come on the scene who was seriously built and ripped was Mick Conlan from Fitzroy. He just looked gigantic compared to everybody else. Now there are at least half a dozen with his physique at every club.

He looks good. Like Kong, I had a chuckle at people saying he looks fat. With their new strength coach I would be very excited if I were an Essendon supporter.

PS. This thread is serverley lacking the tree trunk legs and solid build of this man.

Guy on the left by the way. Take note he's not running so the muscles are pretty relaxed.

Look at those quads when he flexes!!!!

Interesting to note all the Essendon supporters commenting on how "buff" their players are looking.

Over on the other side of the Moonee Ponds Creek the North players are commenting that their pre-season work rate is up 150-200% on previous seasons.

Round 1 is 71 days away.
