Got some great Black Friday deals said fck it and spoiled myself.

LG 42" C4 (2024) gaming tv for $1,365 from JB orignal price was $2,195.

The bookshelf speakers i was using were over 15 years old and sounded like crap so I brought an LG Sound Bar S40T for $191 from Harvey Norman orignal price was $349.

Absolute stoked with my purchases ps5 games never looked and sounded so good.

Edit- the tv has gone even cheaper its $1,291 now went back to jb and they refunded me the diffrence of $74 happy days

Anyone else enjoy the new 30th anniversary loading screen? Had me very confused at first lol

Would love to see them keep that as an option for nostalgia purposes.

EDIT: Seems like I am not the only one

Yes

I love the original PS intro

And currently have the PS2 theme.

Confused me as well as I was like what are these OG intros doing here? But yeah, love em.

Mark cerny talking about the PS6 at the end of the video. 4 years time isnt so far away so it still exciting for a true next gen leap in graphics that I don't think we have reached on the PS5. Hopefully the witcher 4 looks and runs great on it.

Looking like the ps5 pro was the beta for it, anyway I'll probably still get it if GTA VI turns out good on it.

I think that the PS6 is going to be the least exciting console so far. The early ones were huge improvements but the graphics between 4 & 5 were not a big leap but we go 60 frames locked for the most part. The big ticket items have been the SSD & controller haptics. I do rate the sound design when using headphones but on for a select few games.

It's now a time of diminishing returns on those things so 120 frames instead of 60 isn't going to do as much. Unless they do some sort of innovation with a portal / PS6 machine where it's super powerful docked and streams or plays games at low res when on the go. Maybe someone else AI related I haven't thought about but with Xbox shitting the bed & Nintendo in a different market segment, they might get lazy and just do the PS5 Pro Pro for $1000.

Was diminishing since the PS3 IMO.

PSX to PS2 you had essentially "winners" as there was pushes to what medium was going to be standard CD, DVD, HDVD, Minidisc these were "reasons" to buy consoles as carts were bulky and shizen for how things progressed technically. Then you had the PS3.

Emotion Engine, Cell, string 47 together and have a supah dupah computer to take over the world!!11 and everyone looked at a shark and started jumping as devs looked at the cell and died inside to abdandon all hope.

The PS3 was Sonys Betamax moment v2.

Why does anyone refer to the PS1 as PSX?

That's just how it was shortened before a mini redesign of the console and the PSONE marketing began.

I always referred to it as PSX, even with PSO/PSOne branding #oldschool
I owned an original Playstation and had never heard it referred to as PSX, although maybe I was a little bit young to have seen much mention of it. But it's never been something anyone in my circle ever used.
I actually looked into and the original PS was called Playstation X (PSX) but that name was eventually scrapped and released as just PlayStation.
PSOne was released around 2000, same year as the PS2.

PSX was the name given to it before it was officially announced because it was Playstation Xperimental or something. If you dig through old stuff online this is what media were referring to it as initially. I don't remember anyone referring to it as that at the time though but this was before having the internet or even home computers was common so I can only speak from my own exeperience. It wasn't until I started hanging out in online communities after the PS2 was released did I see it being commonly referred to as the PSX and initially I thought it was just referring to the PS platform with the X meaning both 1 and 2 to save confusion if you only wrote "PS".

After thinking I wouldn't go crazy at the end of year sales, I've just up and spent some money "online" -with all of the hubbub of LG pulling out of dvd/bluray/4k device manufacturing I've ordered multiple external pc bluray drives so I can keep ripping my bluray/4k purchases in the event that my current devices malfunction :p

And (hence why I've posted here) I've got a 4TB SSD on the way to replace the current 2TB ssd that I put in my PS5 when I got it a few years ago. Can't wait to be able to install more games than I currently can right now!
