Ummm So sack all those that work in the ABC's London Bureau, they're obviously overpayed and incompetent if they can't cover a wedding, it's a joke.

My taxpayer money doesn't fund any of commercial stations travails.....The ABC however.

Let me explain there is a difference between a reporter and presenter.

I understand the London office have reporters which is fine but a presenter will give a whole different approach. They will give you the facts and a programme like Foreign Correspondent is wonderful vehicle for that type, but a presenter gives a whole round (presentation) idea of what's happening was well as the periphery.

The ABC still has to attract viewers just like the commercial stations with puff pieces and with just reporters giving their updates, just does't cut it.

To cover.....or not to cover....that is the question..

Looks like we're dealing with the truly big issues in politics in here this week.

Surely the question is, why given the saturation already, does ABC even need a presence outside casual updates?
There's no question at all. Australia's national broadcaster should definitely have a presence at a wedding, involving someone who could potentially become our head of state. No question at all.

Why? How does the presence of the ABC have any relevance to who becomes our head of state?

You know they weren’t invited to the wedding right? I hardly think they would be missed.

They couldn’t do that from the studio?

Have you ever watched the news from any channel and you will always find a reporter outside of anywhere there is a story, no matter if they don't get interviews or not. They also could report from the studio, but they give you the impression, your there on the scene. Same thing here.

The ABC don’t have any European correspondents who could do live crosses? Or they couldn’t pay the BBC to use one of theirs?

Didn’t they send over some of their presenters which also would have included support staff and crew.

You know I find it amazing that the ABC cops it in the neck for supposedly spending tax payers funding on things such as the royal wedding, however there is another public funded organisation that escapes scot free. Nothing is said about them, but the ABC gets it due to people's not so hidden agenda.

You talking about SBS? Did they send a team over?

Yes, and I checked their site and they had at least four presenters over there, and with half of them coming straight from attending the Eurovision Song Contest, which apparently they've attended at least the last decade for what ever reason. Again nothing said about that.

Well they are wasting our money as well then.

The ABC are a lot more prominent hence I suppose why they are in the spotlight more. But as SBS are also wasting money then they should also be shitcanned.

Do you know how much support they both receive and why is the Federal government pumping money into two national broadcasters?

ABC bashing is an Australian past time.

As an organisation they get painted with the same brush as the greens, so given they are pro-republic, the ABC are an easy target.

Not really as it doesn't bother me.
