The age of home test kits will dawn soon..the UK has them (very expensive) but nevertheless they will arrive here at some stage
A friend reported going thru a breathalyser style test style at Melbourne airport a few months ago. Lower accuracy but an on the spot answer. If you came up positive then they did a "proper" PCR test. It must have been a trial, I've never heard of it anywhere else in Australia, but something similar apparently in Indonesia

actually lateral flow tests are relatively inexpensive.

the lab based PCR ones cost a lot
hope so.. I do recall reading that in the UK, the home test kits (for those travelling to abroad and needing to submit a test) it was around 50 pounds? which is heinously expensive

Here is a link with some costs over there..I would guess what they pay in pounds we would be paying in dollars equivalent (if it is like petrol costs anyway)

the home test kits are free. You just walk up and collect them from any pharmacy

they don’t cost the government very much to procure either

you can get free PCR tests if you declare symptoms but you have to isolate for the 12-24 hours before you get the result

Mental health costs starting to come out, especially in the younger groups. On that new/old vic oppo leader, whilst I know nothing of him, except it seems to be a role where you're on a hiding to nothing, he is the first to have an unambiguous policy on shutdowns after reaching 80% vaccination level. What I saw quoted was there will be no lockdowns after that figure. Not 'should' or 'expect to be' or 'hopefully' but 'will'.

Labor state premiers complaining about extra doses going to NSW due to the outbreak. Dan very angry. Obviously forgot that they got fed more than their fair share during their last outbreak too. But this isn't about politics, no siree, it's totally about health.

Again, the point is missed.

It isn’t so much that a State gets extra doses it is about the Feds being transparent about it - ie advise the other States that NSW are going to get extra doses but it will be made up to the other states later. Not do it under the table without advising the other states. We are all in it together supposedly.

It is all about being transparent, something SmoCo and Crew would have zero knowledge about.

Much like him being transparent on his travel arrangements - secrecy of Hawaiian trip during bushfires, secrecy of doing a pub crawl after the G7 and secrecy of going back to Sydney for Fathers Day.

But hey, we know what we get with him - the go to thing now is create a National Plan - be it Covid-19, be it womens issues etc.

Election interference again...even the democrat recognises it and calls it out. After mid terms when the house and hopefully the senate are retaken then repeal of section 230 has to be undertaken so big tech is then able to be held to account like any other media platform is

So what did JD Vance do to get banned? And don’t say nothing.

Update - it has been reinstated.

As per vance, they gave no explanation why they did it and he has asked for one. But it is not the point and that the democrat running against him has come out in support says a lot. They too see it as election interference and when both sides of the spectrum do, well, if you can't get the picture....

Josh Mandel is a Republican. JD Vance is a Republican.

Another beat up.

Man he lives rent free in your head.

So... there's 6 million doses of AZ out there now.

We're currently at 21.2 million doses, so we could (theoretically) be as high as 27.2 million. We have a population of approximately 17million, aged 16+ (though we should be aiming for 12+). That would require 34 million doses.

Last time I checked, 27.2m < 34m... so while part of the problem is definitely due to AZ reluctance, there's still an issue on the supply side as well.

If SmoCo had done his ****ing job last year, we'd have done everyone who wanted to be vaccinated by now - and they could all have had their choice of AZ or Pfizer. But he didn't... and now the supply side is still 7m doses short of enough to vaccinate everyone, and mixed messaging by SmoCo has ensured that a large part of the population doesn't want AZ anyway.

Didn’t you denounce AZ by saying it was ”muck?”

Well this for starters. I remember when I referred to you as a conspiracy theorist and you were saying they would still enforce lockdowns with zero cases. The current situation has the UK government considering a short lockdown because their healthcare workers are overwhelmed. It's not relevant to our previous conversation.

I said restrictions. Which is no longer a prediction, it’s already happening, and has been happening in SA for the past 6 weeks or so. With zero community transmission.

In fact it happened all last year. Hospitality, for instance, hasn’t been at full capacity ever.
