I wouldnt.

Couldnt give a toss if Port Adelaide wore the prison bar jumper twice a year in Showdown clashes.
See this is where you are wrong.

You give them an inch and they will take a mile.

They will claim its a Showdown clash if its in the Finals that the Power play the Crows.

What if its a Grand Final?

That penalty is not a deterrent. Port would do it, if thats the worse that would happen.

Make it 5 games. ie 20pts, that would terrify them.
I’d keep doubling the penalty with every occasion.

Rubbish. We're not giving them a mile now, in the past or in the future.

Its about 2 games against the other local side only and thats all it would be. Hardly the need for such ridiculous, drawn-out discussions about a jumper that is worn for 2 matches a year.

Rubbish.

When they came into the competition, there was no talk ever they would wear just black and white, the discussion of wearing the prison bar jumper was just delusion.

They had to include teal in their colours because of Collingwood.

Port will claim that Finals match agianst the Crows is a Showdown which it is, so potentially 3x a year and what if they play off in the grand final, thats 4x a year.

But go on, approve of them to wear the prison bar jumper in Showdowns. See what happens in 10-15 years time from now and see what happens.

No it’s not. If you lived in Adelaide, you would understand their thought process. They want the Jetty guernsey as their permanent guernsey.. Anybody that says differently is lying.

Exactly.

The will begin slowly wearing it just in Showdown clashes. When that gathers momentum it will transcend to other games.

You have opportunity to stop Port now, then do it. Once the horse is bolted, it would be stupid for Pies supporters to be upset when they wear it for every game.

Thats their ultimate goal. IF you cannot see that, well............

AFL getting tough, 4 point penalty if PA wear b&w.

Interesting that the AFL said that between 8pm last night when Port hadn’t been informed anything according to their fake tough boy statement, to 8am this morning which would indicate that they aren’t allowed to wear it..

I used to be on the camp of meh, but the more you understand and the older you get, I understand our position and we need to stop it at all costs. The AFL really should just come out and stop it as well, instead of having the same bs round a bout discussion which happens every year. And they have the ability to do it if they really wanted too.

It would be very easy to prevent them from wearing a jumper for more than 2 times a year. Normal rounds only. No finals. Put it in writing and be very clear.

Not some rubbish contract saying heritage round only that Eddie has admitted was being tossed.

Port has played Adelaide in a final what once since 1997? And now you're concerned that they'll be wanting to play in a jumper 3 to 4 times a year? Ha thats laughable.

Why does an Adelaide supporter feel so strongly against this? What has it got to do with your club? Do you feel it empowers Port Adelaide to stronger performances against your club?

You allow them to wear it for Showdowns, they will eventually start pushing for every AFL game.

The real humiliation will come for the Pies when they have to wear an alternate stip when playing Port Adelaide as they will wear the black and white prison bar jumper.

It may not happen today, tomorrow in the next 5 years. Think of 10-15 years from now.

Back in 1997, I never thought Port could ever once wear the Prison Bar jumper.

It will never transcend to other games. Most Port supporters I have spoken to know this and dont expect it.

You can hypothesize as much as you like about the psychology of Port Adelaide supporters but most reasonable people on both sides of the fence know that it will never happen.

No it wouldnt.

You actually lack forward thinking.

But go on, laugh at what I said, sure you dont think Port and the Crows wont play finals or a Grand Final.

If you know anything about AFL, is that Clubs are cyclic, meaning, every Club will play Finals eventually. Unless your Carlton.

Your funny.

This is their ultimate goal. Anyone with half a brain can see this. I know your joking here now.

Forward thinking? Haha. Of course its cyclical. Im well aware of this. Im not saying it will never happen. But I'm also a realist. Eagles/Dockers no finals played since 1995. Port/Adelaide once since 1997.

You're concerned that somehow in the future, these 2 clubs might play in a final, or even a grand final and want to play in a prison bar jumper - even if there was a firm contract in place for say the next 50 years saying they cant wear it in a finals match?

You're even funnier.

Again - why does it concern an Adelaide supporter so much? You feel the jumper is more intimidating when your team plays them? or do you just have a passion for copyright issues and brand protection?

Wouldnt think to post on other club boards, but when you claim to represent what Port Adelaide supporters think, then I will only state that you live in a different Adelaide than I do.

Sorry to interrupt, but to be fair to the Adelaide poster, they're not wrong:

We the Port Adelaide Football Club believe it is our right to wear the Wharf Pylon (Prison Bar) design that served as our guernsey for 100 years (and a number of times in the AFL) as our main guernsey in the AFL.
We accept that there are obstacles to overcome, but we are dedicated to working with the AFL to find a solution to this problem and will resolutely and respectfully campaign for their reinstatement for the rest of our existence.
Until such time as this issue has been resolved, we shall continue to wear the Chevrons.

That's the petition on the Port board that was launched in 2018. That's their ultimate goal. I think this is why Eddie is so up in arms about it, as the goal posts do continue to shift each time.

Thanks for that. I actually did not see this, I have seen other statements and articles regarding the Prison Jumper.

I genuinely thought every single Collingwood supporter knew that Port's ultimate goal was to wear the Prison Bar jumper, I guess judging by one or two posters on here, I was wrong.

It wouldnt surprise me that they will hope to one day want to be called Port Adelaide Magpies in the AFL.

and the only reason you are against it is because your president has run a 20 year fear campaign based on his outdated views of branding (to go with his outdated views on everything else).

Sponsorship is linked to how much exposure the club gets, membership is linked to team performance. None of it linked to what Port wears.

LOL :D

Hahaha. Ive never laughed so hard. **** me.

Your quoting a petition driven by a core group of supporters to wear the jumper permanently? Hahaha. Maybe my club's supporter group who raised a petition to reverse the 2018 Grand Final decision might stand a chance! What a joke.

I said it will never happen - an opinion given the current contracts. A supporter group can wish for $10,000,000 to land in their laps for no reason at all.

Doesnt mean its going to happen.

lol. I know your joking here, youre not being serious. Ok you got me.

We both agree Port are planning and wanting to wear the Prison Bar jumper on a permanent basis.

I don’t care what you think. Go back to your own board and maybe read the mood of your supporters that write on the thread about the pylon guernsey. If you live in a different Adelaide, it must be in Georgia.

Its completely beside the point.

What they want, what is obtainable or reasonable and what they are going to pursue are 2 completely separate things. Quoting a passionate supporter group who have raised some cute petition is completely laughable.

We know how reasonable all clubs passionate diehards who sit behind the goals every match can be :drunk:
