Opinion Port Adelaide and their Prison Bars

Allowing Port to wear it twice a year in perpetuity in their biggest home and away match would normalise Port's AFL team wearing black and white prison bars. It could legitimise any push for them to be adopted for all home games in the eyes of AFL/the courts. Much better to ward off the issue now so that it doesn't become more difficult for us to stop later.
Okay well why do you want to stop it? How does us wearing it for 12 games a year financially impact Collingwood how does it negatively affect Collingwood at all? Just to let you know last year the jumper was the single biggest selling item league wide. Port Adelaide is simultaneously attacked by your ex-president for not making enough money. The best way for Port Adelaide to connect with their membership base and become financially viable is wear and sell this jumper. So wearing it helps Port Adelaide The Afl and Collingwood achieve their financial outcomes where is the negative as a Collingwood supporter?

Good.

The contract that was signed in 2017 explicitly stated they won’t make black and white merchandise yet they have.

Foook them.
2007 I believe?

I actually wouldn’t mind them wearing it in home showdowns only, i.e. once per year. But they’re not operating in good faith, have already (according to Kornes) sold 5,000 of them in breach of contract, and don’t seem to understand how contracts work... or maybe they just don’t want to.

It will never transcend to other games. Most Port supporters I have spoken to know this and dont expect it.

You can hypothesize as much as you like about the psychology of Port Adelaide supporters but most reasonable people on both sides of the fence know that it will never happen.
Expectations change over time, and people always want more.

I dont disagree that expectations change.

But there is a significant difference between wearing the jumper twice in Adelaide against only Adelaide, versus wearing it for 22+ games every year.

One IMO is reasonable and is not an infringement on our brand. The other quite clearly is an infringement and unattainable.

Correct you allow a precedent and then this will allow the foundation for this to be challenged in court successfully.

I think its blindingly obvious Port have grandiose plans of this becoming their permanent jumper.

What Pies supporters should really appreciate, is that once it happens and you have a change of heart, there will be absolutely nothing you can do about it.

I dont really see the difficulty in saying yes - for 2 games only (sign here please) - and be done with it and moving on to the more important things concerning our club.

Engaging in what ifs and conspiracies surrounding Port Adelaide's intentions regarding the jumper are just distracting.

Plenty of other sporting leagues around the world that dont have hard ons for a jumper like Eddie McGuire has had.

Not difficult, just not needed. I couldn’t give a rats arse about other leagues.

As long as Port have a third colour (teal or if they were gutsy their original magenta) involved no issues.

If it’s fully black and white, only in the SANFL.

As far as AFL is concerned they joined with Collingwood being THE ONLY black and white side.

The end.

it's not like we are wearing white&black every week - just for special occasions.

I do hope Collingwood crash burnt the whole of this season & next.

>> Port Adelaide Power aren't the Port Adelaide Magpies.

Then why are they allowed to draft using fathers-sons rule ..?

The Answer is no.
It will always be no, because as the AFL has stated it’s Collingwoods decision and Collingwoods decision is and always will be no, so stop carrying on like a pack of b1tches and accept it.

They thought they'd get it easy with Ed gone, but Port don't quite understand the lay of the land.

He seems like a soft-touch, a polite and soft-spoken alternative to our dearly loved 'Megaphone' McGuire, but Mark 'the machete' Korda is a force to be reckoned with.

Korda speaks quietly, but by golly our Collingwood accountant carries a big abacus.

Port will fail and they will fall, and when it does the machete will be on hand to 'restructure' its broken parts and deliver it back into the SANFL where it belongs.

And I reckon we should get a ruling now from the AFL that Port can never wear the prison bars without the express permission of CFC. And if we can't get one from them then go to court and put it to bed forever. F#ck Port. FFS their name in the AFL is Port Power, not Port Magpies.

The VFL could take all of PAFC points away from them for the entire year and we would still finish higher than Collingwoobles.
You sound triggered petal.

How about embracing the teal or better still embrace Magenta as a part of your heritage.

Port Power are the needy, neurotic, insipid bastard child of a parent that they didn’t want (SANFL), and the parent that they now project their abandonment issues upon (AFL).

Their pathetic revisionist attempts are as embarrassing as the time the Collingwood Magpies proverbially pissed on them in the 2003 preliminary final.

Stay teal, and stay salty.

Thanks Karen
I sincerely hope you are not over the age of 18, if you so happen to be an adult you have my deepest sympathies mixed with my utmost disdain for the rubbish you have posted in here. You can do better.

Also just FYI in this context the only Karen is Koch having a sook about terms and conditions PAFC agreed to comply with over 20 years ago. He is the one getting antsy and demanding to speak to the manager.

I don't blame you for your misunderstanding, I am presuming you are from S.A and at some point have made the mistake of drinking the local water. Again, you have my condolences.
