At least the soft minded, soft willed knuckleheads who run our club and our so called "football department", (cardigan brigade would be more apt) have a have a ready made constituency around here going by the namby-pamby, limp-wristed trolls around here who abused this thread and made a mockery of it's importance by having a go at those who are passionate about our club and the second they are told to either speak to the issue or f**k off out of the way and let those who have Port Adelaide coursing through their veins vent their anger at those running the club, instead of getting out of the way, they go sooking and reporting. No f****ng wonder Koch et al get away with this shit when they can count on shallow, pretentious backyarders just merrily going along with their assassination of our club in the name of "progress".

Jonas liking Twitter posts about ignoring the negativity and THREE GREAT BLOKES. "External noise"

So now the disgruntled members are 'external noise'

We sure are at a low point.
and so our club goes from being an honourable, tight knitted community with Port principles at heart to one of it's captains calling the die hard supporters "white noise"

We should now be known as the club "for all home shopping channel addicts".

What KT should have said to Ken is "mate, if this is a 50-50 call then I'll make the decision, and my decision is we're not doing co-captains. You have a choice of Ollie, Hamish and Tom. Pick one."

Ken hasn't earned the right to have his judgment respected, and should have been treated as such.

Problem is KT says no and the next time they talk to Ken his bags are packed and he is casually dropping gold coast flights on the desk. He knows it is all he has to do to get his way.

Best part was Koche saying it was “unanimous” across all levels involved. There is absolutely no way that was possible

Professional bullshitter bullshits.

Ollie is missing a couple of weeks at the start of the season. Anyone who thinks that is the reason that has cost him the sole job as captain of the club is dillusional.

They always wanted the co captains model.

Agree. Before the season stared, IMO Boak was prepared to resign from the captaincy in order to get both Ollie in particular to re-signed his contract. The mark of a true captain. It is why the management were 100% sure he was resigning well before he did. The skiing incident just highlights football in January is not a high priority for the "chosen" captain. Most the mark of a true captain. Most likely Jonas was also offered the deal to get him on board also. He now referrs to those members and supporters commenting against the two captain decision to be "external noise". Not the mark of a true captain . co-captaincy was decided quite some time ago (in 2018) IMO. As in numerous other occasions, we are all played as fools by the senior administrators within the club. The group (along with a few others) is the "cancer within" - Koch, Kern and Keith. KKK = Kancer.
Given that, I will support my team and the club as I have all my life, knowing the day WILL eventually come when the club is cancer-free.
I hope members and supporters will organise then rally to achieve this goal before our 150 year in 2020.
2019 just may be the catalyst.

This thread really is quite a good insight into the mindset of a Port Adelaide supporter.

Incompetence whether perceived or real brings on utter contempt from the base.

Maybe the club have shown weakness here, or maybe they’ve shown strength through commitment to their decision. Perhaps a bit of both.

I don’t particularly care whether we have one captain or eight but I think the club have made a mistake making a huge deal over it, and the “We are confident we have made the 100% correct decision” line is extremely unconvincing.

I’m sure it is a fine decision but there is no need to overplay it.

Last September I was fortunate enough to spend some time in Japan and visit the Meiji shrine.
In 1868 Emperor Meiji released the Charter Oath in Five Articles

Let me give you three of those:
- Deliberative assemblies shall be widely established and all matters shall be decided by general discussion based on the public spirit.
- Out-dated and harmful practices shall be broken, and everything shall be based on universal principles
- The nations core shall be vitalized by gathering knowledge from all over the world, while cherishing our beautiful culture and tradition centering the Emperor

I am of northern European ancestry but I have a great respect for Japanese culture, and when I read the above it was a Eureka moment.
I now look at most things through this lens.

Here is my interpretation.

1. While we had an assembly just one week ago, matters were not decided by general discussion. If that was the case we would have had a very different result. In my mind, the club has done a very poor job of both understanding and leveraging the will of the people.

2. There is nothing out-dated and harmful in having a proper chain of command, we are going against universal principles by creating a divisive leadership structure.

3. We have not cherished our culture and tradition, we have thrown it to the ground and spat on it. And if it is ok to do this once, then the door is open to continue doing so. Blink and we will be called Southern Power, forever wearing teal blue guernseys with lightning bolts.

I understand that you are now in a well planned "damage control" mode, and from now on those of us who want to preserve our history and traditions will be labelled sooks, whingers and white noise.

To those of you who blindly accept the ken-aid, enjoy your victory.
I will now sit back quietly and wait.
I'll always have the traditions to look back on. I'm still proud of the past.

Good luck with the future. It is now in your hands.

Won't happen because of the AFLX Danger Bolts but if it does there'll be no shortage of volunteers to pilot the Enola Gay over Alberton.

I guess by default if we finish outside the 8 Hinkley will be gone. That I’m sure if.

I’d imagine it won’t just be the El Scorcho banner at Adelaide Oval, that’s if anyone is still going by round 23.
