Sturt FC, Arsenal FC,
A few on the Port, Crows and Stadium boards know that I'm strictly a neutral. I call it as I see it, but more than anything, I absolutely adore this wonderful game of ours.

So with that in mind, I'd like for us to have a discussion on how bloody good Port Adelaide are to watch. Their gut running, precision passing, teamwork, you name it; they are a damn good side. Sure, there were a few fumbles here and there, but for the most part; they obliterated the Crows yesterday afternoon.

Something Ken Hinkley said yesterday has stuck in my mind and went something along the lines of this: "We want to have a really good defensive set up, but when it's time to play, we want to play an exciting fast paced brand of football. We all grew up having fun playing the game in that manner and a fast paced game is something we want to employ". Not his exact words, but rather an around-about summary.

And that is exactly what football should be about. The Fremantle of today and the Sydney Swans of 2005 are/were good, hard footy sides who got the job done by shutting down their opponents and having a strong defensive mindset. But it is so boring. I don't want to watch a game like that. Constant stoppages, stop-start football aimed at restricting the opposition. That's not what this beautiful game should be about.

So the whole "defend strongly, then play the game in an exciting manner" method is something that I really advocate. I'll probably head to a few Port games this year, not only to experience the best stadium in the country, but also to watch this impressive club put on a damn good show.

Hats off to Port. This club is on the rise. The possibilities for this exquisitely talented and extremely loyal and passionate group of young men are endless and their style of play exemplifies exactly what is so fantastic about our beautiful game.

Post of the year....errrrrr but I'm biased obviously.

If Freo can achieve their objective of getting an extra two goals a game you could say that they too are proponents of the 'defend strongly and play the game in an exciting manner' method you speak of.

Their quality of play isn't as good as Port's. They are the best at strangling teams, but I would not choose a Freo game over a Port game if I wanted to see a spectacle.

when fremantle get going they can be excellent to watch. I wouldn't compare that to the old swans. but yes port Adelaide have such skilful players through the midfield their lightning fast ball movement is a joy to watch. and to think they're the third youngest team in the league.

I think Port show how important it is to have players who can use the ball well.

Polec, Boak, Hartlett, Polec, Broadbent etc etc

They make Carlton, Adelaide, Collingwood and North look rather ordinary in this aspect.

Freo are fun to watch in a different way. Their preliminary against Sydney last year was incredible to watch when they were just mobbing Sydney all over the ground.

Polec uses it so well he gets a double mention :D

Remind me a lot of Holland when Marco van Basten was in full flight.

Can't stand them and I'm gutted that they missed out on the spoon back in 2011 - Worse still, I was even going for them in that first Adelaide Oval game against Melbourne because I wanted Gold Coast to win the spoon back then....

Recruited well and they're no longer the bottom 4 joke that they were - It kills me that Wingard will tear Adelaide a new one with regular consistency over the next ten years

They remind me of the Western Bulldogs circa 2006. Fast, attacking, exciting and fast becoming everyone's second favourite team to watch. I don't know if they can threaten for a Premiership this year, however over the next few years they have the potential to win multiple flags. Wingard, Wines, Polec and Hartlett are still just kids!!

Very exciting team to watch. A great brigade of talented kids.

They play a fantastic type of footy, exciting, beautiful to watch in full flight. Will be challenging for a flag over the next years. Hinkley is a fantastic coach thus far, and I expect them to blow a lot of very good teams out of the water with their fitness and great gut running.

I'm making plans to go see the next game we have over there against them if I can get a ticket. Not only that but the new homeground is amazing.

I have a confession... I love watching port now. Im seriously thinking of buying a Port Membership to watch games at adelaide oval... not jumping off the Likns yet though

Don't you mean the Lichens?

Got their recent top 10 picks so spot on...Boak, Hartlett, Wingard, Wines and now getting Polec. Yep great to watch and home ground advantage will be even greater with that brilliant new Adelaide Oval. Good on em.
