The OP makes some very good points. In a nutshell, port can't build a supporter base necessary to sustain an AFL club. It's as simple as that. Everyone in Adelaide who is a candidate already hates them, or supports the crows (or both). Those who do support them simply couldn't be bothered turning up to see them play. In 2002, the first year they won the minor premiership, the averages crowds of 30k at their 2 home finals. That's disgraceful, a total embarrassment. If you can't fill your home stadium in the first week of the finals, after winning the minor premiership, there's something seriously wrong.
