I was talking about Dodgy-1, not you.

What are you on about now? Maybe you need another week off.

The way your mob is playing lately, I'm not surprised.
My mistake then. I thought you were referring to me. Apologies.

My commentary relates to your specific question regarding what Port Adelaide was doing to remove itself from our predicament. I answered that in a paragraph in a general comment without knowing specific details.

I have no issue. Port Adelaide is playing average football and is in the midst of a worrying slump with the very real possibility of it becoming 6 games and counting against a rising North Melbourne.

If you're truly a 'feisty fella', why dont you attain some balls and reveal your preferred team ?

Unlisted's are like cancer. Hard to pin down and rotten (especially those who frequent the Bay) because they only converse to pawn. You my friend are worst than a cheap hooker from Haiti. Be gone ! You and your foul STD's ...

Good point.

Firstly to pull up a post from 3 Dec 2008, 10:04 is sad in itself let alone respond to it here as if the dude was actually talking today. I don't think the world has ever seen someone with such brilliance and intellect being wasted on a senseless footy forum. Do your community a favor and decrease the unemployment and crime rate, talk about wasted talent. You do fit the PAFC supporter stereotype, lie, cheat whatever you have to do to get your point across even though I've already responded to your weak attacks already and you already know full well who my team is, it hasn't changed since I could kick a footy, it's the same team I represented in mini-league (you've played mini-league for Port, haven't you?).. anyway.. it's Norwood, the team you love to hate. You already know all this I'm just regurgitating it like a fool for all those that haven't been acquainted with me yet. Ever thought of getting into politics?? Your not bad at lying, but with PAFC, there's plenty of room for improvement. You also need to spend less time trying to get people suspended from big footy and more time using that brilliance to better your community.

Couldn't agree more with the majority of posts here. Victoria teams fan base has always been far more than that of the South Australian teams fan base. Even though the players produced were as good, the money from ticket sales and corporate sponsorship in VIC far outweighed that in SA. The rejects of the VFL were usually shipped over to SA because of less pay and the brilliantly gifted players from SA were usually purchased by VFL teams for obviously more pay.

The AFL wasn't set up to be a national competition that represents every state league in the nation. I've read posts on here where people are outraged at a future concept where teams like Carlton, Essondon and Collingwood would be denied but a worthless team like Port Power still would be on the list.

This ideology is as absurdly wrong as the current AFL setup. There's nothing right or fair about the current system. If it was set up fairly, the Victorian teams would still have a huge advantage anyway, just because they have a much bigger fanbase and they would therefore rake in more cash than the other leagues. I'll regurgitate it again and again, have each state league play their rounds and the top teams from each state play each other in the finals. This type of fair sporting works all around the world, why does it have to be corrupt in Oz? Club costs will be substantially less, club fanbase will obviously grow across the nation. More money for the AFL governing body.

Unfortuantely, the current AFL system was set up by greed, not fairness. There's no wonder why PAFC jumped at the opportunity to join.

Nor can over 100 years of history.

Fitzroy can teach you that.

Fitzroy also lost far less money.

Fitzroy also didn't have a parasitic licence owner taking money from the club in order to run a state competition. Port makes plenty of money, but unfortunately for the club the SANFL takes millions before they can get their hands on it. It's a bad set-up for us because it means that we have less money for coaches/facilities/admin etc, but the one thing it does do is ensure our survival because we are an integral part of the SANFL's business plan. The reality is that we are a strong revenue stream for the SANFL, which (in conjunction with the crows) has helped it attain its current position as the strongest state league going around. So as long as the SANFL exists, Port Adelaide exists.

Suck it up baby, Port Adelaide are here to stay! :thumbsu::D

You've got to be joking, that's like putting Hitler in charge of Israel. :D

No one ever considers the good things Hitler did. What about the Volkswagen (i.e. Peoples Car) and the Autobahn. He was also instrumental in the development of jet propulsion and rocket engines. Which later led to fast and inexpensive world wide travel and satellite broadcast technology.

If Hitler was in charge of Israel at least they would have affordable cars, good freeways, cheap flights and live AFL broadcasts.

May the campaign begin.

I'm sure Hitler didn't personally do any of these things.

Apart from the fact they'd all be dead.
May the campaign begin.

Most people just send a request to the site admins. I'm assuming you've not only gone that route but consistently harassed them about it, obsessing so much about not getting what you want that you've actually added your desire to delete/edit posts or just terminate user accounts you don't agree with to your very own signature. That's the epitome of sad.

No, but we did have an effective war being waged against us by the AFL, and Ross Oakley, Graeme Samuel & Ian Collins in particular, for over a decade before we finally succumbed. Apart from there being far less money redistributed to clubs by the League at that time of course - nowhere near the level of funding clubs take for granted now.

It seems like Port have a fair amount of adversity to contend with right now as far as ability to generate revenue goes, but consider yourselves lucky that you don't have to deal with the sort of stuff we had to overcome all the time during that period.

Here's a catalogue of the many atrocities by the AFL against the Roys over this time (thanks to the excellent work of Roylion in compiling this information).

Fitzroy was:

1- refused permission by the AFL to play seven home games in Canberra despite having negotiated a deal which would have netted it an extra million dollars a year.

2- was forced to move from the Junction Oval at the end of 1984 through the AFL's ground rationalisation policy, then was knocked back to play out of Waverley, forcing the club to move to Princes Park and Victoria Park at relatively poor deals right throughout the late 1980's and 1990's. (In the final washup, we received no revenue in the end from our time at Princes Park. Not one red cent)

3- was given no financial assistance to play home games in Tasmania (despite pioneering the move), paying all associated expenses out of its' own pocket.

4- was refused permission by the AFL to redirect their annual AFL dividend to the banks to service loans (despite the fact the dividend was guaranteed by the AFL)

5- the AFL refused to guarantee Fitzroy's annual dividend (which was paid to all clubs as a matter of course), which made it impossible to borrow money or service loans to aid cash flow)

6- was threatened with legal action by the AFL unless Fitzroy immediately handed over a $250,000 sponsorship that Fitzroy had made with CUB (also the AFL's sponsors) to pay off part of the the AFL's loan...(which wasn't even due until the following year). They even threatened to reduce other club's dividends in an effort to get clubs to put pressure on Fitzroy. Fitzroy eventually borrowed the money from Footscray to pay off the AFL, as part of the Western Oval tenancy agreement.

7- Over the head of Fitzroy, the AFL guaranteed Carlton 22 matches at Princes Park from 1993-2000 irrespective of whether Fitzroy played there or not. Fitzroy had no bargaining power to negotiate a better ground deal with Carlton. When Carlton came with a poorer deal from 1993, Fitzroy had to either accept a deal in which they would make no ground revenue or consider a move. They moved....yet again.

8- Fitzroy was issued notices introduced by the AFL's solvency rule, which meant that if the AFL commission considered a club MAY not have been able to pay it's debts, and the said club could not prove to the AFL's satisfaction that it was able to meet financial commitments for the next twelve months, their AFL licence could be removed. Fitzroy received several solvency notices from the AFL and was the only club to do so, despite many of the Victorian clubs having higher debts.

9- the AFL objected to a campaign where Fitzroy made 10c from every can of Solo drink sold, because Paul Roos jumper in the advertising campaign had an AFL logo on it. The AFL was sponsored by Coca Cola.

10- the AFL advised player manager Damien Smith on how best the Bears could secure Alistair Lynch from Fitzroy and stay under the salary cap. Lynch's leaving triggered a player exodus as he was largely regarded as one of Fitzroy's two best players. In hindsight that was the point that Fitzroy went downhill sharply.

(Also, the AFL played a role in helping clubs like Collingwood to steal Gary Pert from us, and helping Sydney to nick Roos, amongst other things)

11- Fitzroy was refused by the AFL to allow businessman Bernie Ahern to loan money to help the Lions. The AFL could have helped Fitzroy at no risk to themselves or the other clubs in the competition, but didn't want to.

12- the AFL refused to release a debenture charge over the Fitzroy Club Hotel for $250,000 even though Fitzroy had paid it back....until legal action by Fitzroy was threatened. The AFL backed down when that occurred..

13- the AFL repeatedly requested of the Fitzroy directors that they call a meeting of Fitzroy members and shareholders to change the articles of association to merge without members and shareholders agreement/consent

14- refused in April 1996 to pay out a dividend in advance to keep Fitzroy in the competition, despite a Fitzroy promise to merge at the end of the year

15- proposed at the end of 1995 that Fitzroy hand in its licence and be run by an AFL-run company with a new licence called Fitzroy Lions Pty.Ltd. and if a merge was not affected by the end of 1996, would be liquidated.

16- the AFL in early 1996 refused a two week advancement of $100,000 of a $1.1 million guaranteed AFL dividend to the club to help with cash flow.

Another reason Port Adelaide is a failed concept is they thrive on excuses. We're shit in the AFL because of our team in the SANFL, we're shit in the SANFL because of our team in the AFL, we were shit against Richmond because the ground was wet, it's the same song Port supporters have been singing long before Port Power existed and it's the same song they're singing today. I love the excuse "we don't have money for the AFL because it was being siphoned to the SANFL". It's time to grow a pair PAFC. Either move on and focus on the AFL by shutting down your SANFL establishment, or if you can't handle the AFL heat, get the f*** out of the AFL kitchen.

We actually turned over over 32 million last season.. but I wouldn't expect that to matter seeing as though you've already made up your own mind.. which happens to be wrong. I wouldn't expect you to bother with the redistribution of funds.
