Honest question
Should a AFL player be allowed to refuse to join Port Adelaide after this due to potential health and safety concerns? If I was a parent and my kid was in the draft, Port is 100% the last club I want them at.
Its almost worth adding in as part of the punishment. Joining Port should be up to the players and parents for the time being
AFL likes to exist in its own little bubble. Any other environment, Safework SA would have a field day if someone got a heavy knock to the head and told to finish their shift. The worker(s) would be right to stop work until the issue was resolved (ideally as a union)
Trying to think of a parallel for footy: Any player, at any club, that didn't feel the club's medical staff had their welfare front-of-mind should be able to sit themselves out. I'd hope the AFLPA would back them up on it and force the league to intervene.
