Still think the weirdest and most untouched aspect of this is the concept of how they thought they could get away with it.

Adrenaline makes you do dumb things its fair to say
20 pts down in the heat of a Showdown staring 3 straight defeats and an unsiged future can do that.
I like Ken and im sure the Doc does too, but they had a mare on Saturday night thats indisputable.

They thought this way because the useless AFL has let them get away with it in the very recent past with a slap on the wrist (pissant little fine and a “be a good boy next time please” threat)..

Their attitude towards consussion incidents have clearly been “how can they catch us doing the wrong thing if we ignore the impact altogether and dont do any concussion test”..

Just plead ignorance in the aftermath, hopefull win rhe game and accept the slap on the wrist later.. and so far thats exactly whats happened to them so why would they change.

They couldnt give two fxxks about the long term effects on their players.. and any legal action taken against them in the future will ultimately be paid for by the AFL..

Lol, they wont sack Ken, he keeps us competetive without ultimate success, a revenue stream from hopeful supporters without sharing the spoils is where the AFL want us.
You said yourself you want the AFL to step in when you F*&^k up, well, you can't be trusted now, so the AFL hopefully take control of your license and give it to someone they can trust.

This isn't the SANFL.

Port are a small club, the revenue stream they generate isn't that big a deal to the AFL.

You sound frustrated, the sanction will be handed down soon enough, perhaps have a cup o' tea and a lie down until then.

Lol, he doesnt have to overrule the Doc, he just says youre not going back on, and use any reasoning he likes.
Players get dragged all the time, Coaches dont get reprimanded for doing so.

Why would Kenny not want a player who has been cleared by the club doctor out there?

Because Ken has eyes and can see the replay on the big screen and use his intelligence to make a call to err on the side of caution.

That’s not Kenny’s job. He relies on the doctor to say whether ok.

Crazy to see people trying to take the piss here when people’s well-being is on the line and has been deliberately put at risk which what’s seems like a systemic long-term issue now.

Absolutely sickening, imagine being knocked out at work and told to get back onto the tools.

Modern day slavery at its finest.

Thank you Scomo. You might not hold the hose, but the buck stops with the head coach.

The concussion protocol is written in language that allows anyone conducting a training session to make a "Clear diagnosis of concussion"

"Loss of consciousness" is one of the automatic criteria to make that and not return to play or training.

Doc: "He's responding well on the bench, he can go"
Ken: "That's awesome he's doing well, but he got knocked-out so he has to sit out the game".

It is either incompetence for not knowing the protocol, which required the removal from play, or flaunting the rules by trying to game the system and get him back on.

Duty of care, the same duty of care derived from footage that has you all questioning duty of care yeah?

I mean, you do think Aliir should have sat out based on what you saw yeah.
Didnt Ken have the same access?
You dont even know Aliir personally as Ken does yet you care and Ken didnt it appears, yeah.

Gentle my friend, dont scare them off, I want to play all day.

There are rules that say coaches cannot overrule doctors and can't get involved in the decision making process over injuries/concussion, etc.

If you want to pin it all on Ken then provide some evidence.

I agree, they cant overrule a doctor if the doctor feels that the player is affected by an head injury.

However if the doctor has not followed protocol or procedure, Then the coach can overall the decision based on duty of care. The coach is watching the game like anyone else and understands the situation that has occurred. In his mind, that incident should have raised serious concerns even before the doctors assessments.

Everyone here is getting their jollies off, jumping on the bandwagon of finger pointing and blame of the PAFC. And sure the doctor should be criticized but in a world of occupational health and safety, the issue shouldn't be laid responsible to one person alone. Everyone associated with that organisation has a duty of care.

The culture of the playing group is driven by the head coach. Only Ken has been at the helm during the rise of head injury awareness. Anything predating that should not be judged to today's standards.

Kenny was making tactical moves and trying to win the game for Port. He didn’t have time to be conducting tests on allir.

Master coaches like Ken just coach and leave things like concussion tests up to the doctors. If Ken had his finger in every pie he wouldn’t be one of coaching greats that he is today.

I really should report some of you for piss poor trolling, or conduct unbecoming a Bigfooty main board poster.

Shakes head.
You realise the main board here is probably around 75% trolling right?
