Port Adelaide's plan to use jumpers similar to Collingwood

Because we're going to keep asking and we only need one AFL CEO to say yes. Ultimately, this issue matters far more to Port than it does to any other club.
No afl ceo is going to ever say yes..

every ceo from now to the end of time will simply consult the AFL lawyers who will advise them to say no or end up in a huge mess in a court case that the pies will ultimately win. before themselves saying no.

The Collingwood football club has the final “veto” say..

Are you trying to argue that brands can't evolve or revert to more historical branding?
Not in this case as Port's entry to the league was predicated upon the "Port Power" branding and colours, not the "Port Adelaide Magpies" branding and colours. This is what the existing AFL clubs voted for when agreeing to award Port a licence.

Collingwood has the right to veto any Port rebrand to black and white in this case. If Port is no longer happy with the terms of its AFL licence it can either rescind it and allow the entry of another SANFL club, or it can negotiate with the AFL (and by extension, Collingwood) to change the terms.

Ha ha **** McGuire. Port will win this in the end. Gilligan will protect his fat mates feelings in the short term but this train has left the station. The crowd will be majority prison bars going forward. The people have spoken. The Clam, the Paranoid, the deluded dogs supporter can all rub one out on Billys back. Agreements. Lol.

If Collingwood had veto power, we'd never have worn them.

They don't.

Collingwood don't want this to go to court. If they did they'd have taken us and the AFL to court one of the other times we were permitted to wear the bars.

Got that agreement handy there? Would you like to cite the specific clauses that give Collingwood veto power?

Didn't think so.

If their plan to keep worming their way over to the SANFL jumper then teal prison bars is probably worth a shot
Port think they can do what they want regardless of what the AFL has to say?? Yet, with all their tradition, history etc, they seem to be having an awful lot of problems to stay afloat. $12m in debt and growing. A heavy reliance on the AFL each year. A small member/supporter base.

Maybe this is all just a distraction to the situation they find themselves in?

Yep, Kochie knows exactly what he is doing.

if thats the case, and collingwood would lose if this went to court according to port and its supporters, then why dont port and kochie take it to court then?.. its pretty obvious it is because they know they’d lose.

and as to your “Collingwood dont want this to go to court“ garbage comment...

not sure why your so deluded as to think collingwood even need to take it to court... the AFL have taken their side in all of this and bitch slapped port back into line.. its currently collingwood 1, port power 0 and the ref (the AFL) has already blown the final siren!..

theyve won without even needing to take it to court!..

That was my suspicion, throwing rah rah bait to the supporters, but they're 3rd on the ladder so I think it's genuine. Probably an age thing. In not too many years there won't be anyone under 40 who remembers Port Adelaide regularly playing in black and white. Koch and co need youngish people thinking its a big deal.

Yet here you are.

exactly.. its all a marketing ploy drummed up by kochie to keep his customers engaged... and boy, aren't some of em falling for it!.. I actually feel a little bit of pity for them really.. that they could be so gullible and easily led.

So you say now, but this clearly wasn't the case in August 1995 when the "Port Power" brand was launched to the public.

In fact, Victoria Park has no place in Collingwood's brand, since they abandoned it.

I guess Collingwood has no place in Collingwood's brand, since they moved to Richmond.

And yet... here you are too..

Thats what generally happens in these forums.. poeple come together to discuss things...

Not really a hard concept to get your head around when you give it some thought!.

How many of your 8000 posts are about Port Adelaide? Its a bit of a problem when you hate a club more than you like your own.

Discuss .... troll .... distinction without a difference
Pfffft... i have have been discussing this based on the facts for the last 200 pages of this thread.. all the port supporters have done is build up massive strawmen arguements and attack anyone that refuses to agree with their point of view..

Papa g only a page back (comment 5225) suggested myself and several others should just perform a sexual act on another poster back..

Sorry, but I dont see you pulling him up on that at all whilst your sitting up there on your high horse..

They've won a battle, not the war. It's hardly 1-0 either, closer to 20-5 or so and it's well and truly ramping up on our end.

We ideally don't want it to go to court either, but we recognise that the AFL has the ultimate power here and we'll keep the pressure on them until we get what we want.

So you say now, but this clearly wasn't the case in August 1995 when the "Port Power" brand was launched to the public.

My brother in law is a power supporter. Back when Port Adelaide Power entered the comp he purchased a Foundation Member membership. Hefty price at the time, but I can’t remember how much. He still has the plaque on his wall.
My question is.. If he Was a “Foundation Member” wouldn’t this signify that he was a member when the club was “founded”.
(It wasn’t for any charitable or philantrophic foundation) But a football club membership.

I can also remember when the Port Magpies were seperate to the Power. Power attendances were small and getting smaller. Remember the tarps covering the seats at Football Park at Power home games. Many old Port Adelaide Magpie supporters didn’t want a bar of the Power and wantEd to follow Port Adelaide in the SANFL.

Former Port Magpies premiership captain Tim Ginever, was one of those that led the push for “One Club, one team“ or whatever the marketing moniker was.
It was a ploy to get all the old Port Magpies back on board the Power.

When was the 1870(?) used on the back of the guernseys? Im sure it wasn’t there at the inception of Port Power.
Im sure it was done around the time of the “One club, one team” push. History seems to have been rewritten so the Power fans can feel they have this heritage, and 30+ premierships.
Then the game day “Never tear us apart”. Who actually tore them apart? Not the SANFL or the AFL or any other club.
