Yes, it's tradition they wear prison bars in the SANFL.
If you are not talking about tradition, then what are you talking about?
I really don't have a problem with Port wearing the strip, but 150 year celebrations, you would think they would wear the strip they wore 150 years ago.
I’m assuming port want it again your mob because they’re our biggest home and away games, plus you’re a south Australian team and our rivals. Makes sense to me if you want to wear the prison bars once a year it would be in the biggest game. This topic is pretty funny
I personally don't care either way if Port wear the prison bars or not, but I do find it a little bit funny they are pushing it to wear against the Crows, who according to them are a shit club/no history - But they wanna pull out a traditional jumper against us? I thought the Crows were irrelevant
as an aside, though, the prison bar actually clashes when Crows have white shorts on and Port have the white number panel - The Crows & Port should both wear probably clash jumpers but maybe I'm too much of a pragmatist for others to agree with that
finally I actually think North Melbourne's jumper is closer to Collingwood than Port's (well, it was until they inverted it)
It makes you wonder why design isn't trademarked but colours are? Bit weird
How did the AFL acknowledge Port Adelaide's history on the exact anniversary date 12 May 2020.? It banned the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL from participating in the local competition. Rather deaf to the occasion.
I'm not arguing at all, i was wondering why they don't celebrate the colours they started with.Your argument is that they can't wear the black and white prison bar jumper because they didn't wear it 150 years ago in 1870. I am arguing that they are celebrating the total 150 years not just the year 1870.

It might be just me, but if i wanted history, i would like to see the start, not just the successful years.
Richmond were formed in 1908 in the same way Port Adelaide were formed 1997.Port Adelaide started wearing black and white in 1902.
118 years ago : not quite 150 years I know.
Not sure what team you follow but here is a list of the teams that were formed AFTER Port Adelaide were wearing black and white. Your team might be one of them.
Richmond
Footscray, now Western Bulldogs
Hawthorn
North Melbourne
The port Adelaide football Club was formed in 1870 and entered the AFL in 1997Richmond were formed in 1908 in the same way Port Adelaide were formed 1997.
Says the poster whose team followed wears purple and green!Surely there aren't Collingwood supporters out there that agree with Eddie?
How on earth could anyone think their club has a divine right to the colours black and white?
And the Richmond football club was formed 1885 And joined The VFL in 1908 and has been wearing Yellow and black since 1887.The port Adelaide football Club was formed in 1870 and entered the AFL in 1997
The port Adelaide football Club was formed in 1870 and entered the AFL in 1997
That happened because you sold out your SANFL roots
That isn't a diss, Port are now on the national stage - other clubs like Norwood / Sturt etc are forever in feeder leagues
The virus/economic choas of this year accelerated it, but the process started when Port went talking to the VFL in 1990
The timing is just rather, poetic, I guess
What he is saying is pretty straight forward really.you might want to read the thread a bit better

Correct.. PAFC were formed in 1870 and entered the AFL in 1997.
Mate, you have seen the SANFL right?
If you get the chance to get out of that shit then bloody hell take it.
The nuffyism is insane there.
Eddie has been angry for a few weeks now. I think everyone is getting a spray, this is just another topic for him.Is there a way for Eddie and Kochie to both come out if this equally pissed off?
If so I vote for that
I don’t think traditionally means what you think it means. Don’t confuse it for “originally”So tradition then?
Traditionally they wore magenta.
Then they changed to the prison bars for the SANFL.
Traditionally they wear teal in the AFL.
