Think I picked 2 winners this week.

This sort of huge upset round usually happens in mid July maybe last week of July as the drudgery of mid winter hits hard and top teams ease off.

Happening so late in the year means the season really is open for anyone to pinch it, more like 1993 than 2016.

In 2016 with only one game to go you had 4 sides with 16 wins and 3 with 15 and the Bulldogs in 7th spot could sneak into 4th spot if results went its way in the last round. In 2016 the sides outside the 8 weren't causing the sort of upsets in the 3rd to last round. The big 7 kept winning unless they played each other.

I reckon the teams in the 8 are now set. Based on percentages, form and opposition remaining, I can't see any current top 8 team falling out, unless Hawthorn absolutely obliterate Carlton tomorrow which I doubt. I have all top 8 teams winning at least 2 of their last 3 games with the exception of GWS who have the toughest run, but they are 2 games and percentage inside the 8 and won't drop out.
Well I was wrong about Hawthorn obliterating Carlton. What looked like a fairly simple tipping round was anything but. Only 3 favourites won.

I don't think the Dogs will be going on a 2016-ish run that's twice at AO in a short period of time they've been done like a dinner.. Kane can still get his Bevo knives out at some point.
I don’t really blame Bevo, you can go back to the 90s when the Crows beat them in the prelim, nothing has changed since then for the Dogs.
One way side, good mids, good enough up forward, shyt down back.
When they got the ball can beat anyone, when they haven’t absolutely garbage.
They have basically been drafting the same type players for 30 years.

So many sides are doing 180 degree turnarounds from week to week.

Do Sydney have no chance because of what they did against Port? Was that the boot up the date they needed, to get them out of a 6 week malaise??

Usually I am sceptical of these calls in the media that anything can happen, as just a way to keep interest high so people don't drop off, but this year I reckon it is an any result could happen type year.

Having said that, finishing top 2 and playing a travelling team at home in a QF, win that and then another travelling team in a home PF, still gives you the best chance to win a flag.

Just to take that another step, playing a non Vic side in a GF is a massive advantage not having the majority of the crowd influencing the umps in 50/50 decisions.
Remember that would have been payed at the MCG 😂

That's why they give us a hard time, we are are so transparent, close down the corridor and and get the footy over the top, we become bog average.
That's why we need to actually focus on beating the crows at their own game next week and not just play the way we do pretending that butters , Rozee and JHF will just get it done.
