BYE BYE HAMMER. Kid has huge physcial attrributes back he cannot play football, will never be more than an average player, his market value is at it's peak right now. If we got pick 9 for him I would faint with excitment.

If I was port i would offer no more than a 2nd round pick, amazing please take this.

To be honest if Fev stayed I wouldn't see Hammer getting a game next year at Carlton

WTF?
You want to trade young improving ruckman with massive upside and who is also a good kid, and keep the 28 year old selfish superstar who is a complete knob.

And the last comment? This Fev thing has seriously rotted your brain.
EPIC YAWN.

Risky giving up Hampson particularly since it is looking like Warnock may experience a lot of difficulty over his career staying on the park for any period of time (he may have contracted the dreaded Hartlett virus). Kreuzer up forward will then potentially leave Sauce as our main ruck option. Port won't part with pick 9 in any case. Hampson (remember he was a project player) has shown a bit this year and could potentially fill a number of roles given his athleticism and a few more years development. Good to see that Choco rates Hampson - guy certainly has upside.

Just hope Warnock can get on the park next year and show something - will make it a lot easier to assess our ruck stocks and options.

I'd refuse to trade Hampson - definitely not for pick 9.

He was pick 19 three years ago as a very speculative ruckman. He's come on in leaps and bound and shows a heap of ability.

With his pace of the mark, it's not too far a stretch to see him become a handy forward. He gets his hands to the ball but just can't clasp them. That'll improve with experience.

I agree with you, but remember Deluca suffered from the same condition - very frustrating to watch. Champion Data need a "first hands on the ball" stat.

I'm not sure if anyone watched Sandilands in his early years, but he could hardly mark or kick. Big men can take time to develop, we drafted Hampson with our 19th pick and he has shown great improvement.

I don't see why we would trade him after we're just seeing the fruits of our development. All for a player that "might" come good. It is also important to remember that Warnock is still a little fragile at the momoent and Fevola could be traded, hence Kreuzer up forward.

The Power players will be licking their lips if Hammer somehow gets there!

They will be feeding off his scraps for years... And he goes ok in the ruck as well ;)

As others have said, has come along in leaps and bounds.
Potentially, with that leap of his, the best tap ruckman at the club.
Very athletic and aggressive, skills improve by the game.

Doesn't take many marks, but this year has managed to get his hands to the ball first, whereas last year '08, he tended to be stationary and vertical jump. Will improve in that department no doubt.

Can play forward, and burns off most blokes his size.

Biggest thing holding him back is he suffers from night blindness,
don't know how many times the ball bounced off his head this year.
May need night vision goggles.

I think the club want to keep him but realize our fwd KPP stocks are really low. With Fev going potentially, we are screwed a litte up forward, and left with no cover if waite/Kruez fall over. KPP havent fallen our way in the last 2 drafts, e.g. Hurley - so here is a chance to go, Kruezer/Warnock is good enough for ruck, so let's deal on Hampson to get a pick 9-16 if possible and draft a KPP. It's not a bad idea given Hammer is still a BIG risk!

Why would we trade him now?

We are better off waiting until the GC come to the party with an excess amount of draft picks, and a need for a young developed ruckman. If he improves as much as he has this year he will command a higher pick.

Time to play the waiting game :D

Some of the Crap that gets posted here lately,

Pick 9 is a good offer but I'd be extremely disappointed if we did accept it.

Yes, it's a high pick but Hampson is developing into a really good player.

He was picked at 17 a few years back as a project player. He was never going to be a star from day 1 but it was believed that in a few years down the track he could become a very damaging ruckman.

The development he has shown, particularly in 2009, has been outstanding. Sure, he still needs to work hard on a few aspects of his game but the improvement is great and there for all to see.

The fact that a club may be offering a top 10 pick for him is testament to Wayne Hughes for picking him up and to Hammo for his hard work that is starting to pay off.

Hope like hell that we don't get swayed by the great sounding fact of getting a top 10 pick and that we do hold on to Hampson who is still developing and could well turn out to be an outstanding player.

I do believe he was being considered at pick 10 by Collingwood who eventually took Nathan Brown. Burgan rated him fairly highly and said he would be a bolter in the draft.

people are so short-sighted. Why anyone thinks we can depend on Jacobs is beyond me. Hampson was so impressive this year. He turned my doubts around and now I think he could be one of the most exciting players around in a couple of years time. We'd be crazy to trade him. Warnock, Hampson and Kreuzer can easily play in the same team and Jacobs shouldn't even be considered.

Don't do it ..his value will increase ten fold when the gold coast comes into fruition...he's worth more to us right now than a hit or miss pick.

Players of his size and athleticism are scarce...so keep him for now.

Players are drafted in the hope of them becoming good footballers, irrespective of what pick they are taken. The notion of an alarming amount of footy supporters in general to trade and get an 'upgrade' on the original pick they were taken when they begin to show something is as baffling as it is stupid. Again, players are drafted to be good footballers, not to improve and then be traded for a superior draft pick to which they were first taken.

If the offer is too good to refuse, then sure. But a pick 12 spots higher in a draft years after we have developed Hammer is not one of those.

Losing Fev means Krueze will be likley be playing as a Forward next year.

With Warnocks history of Injuries, we could (surprisingly) come up short on ruckmen if we trade him now.

Its a reasonable deal, however its a pass for mine.

Re-assess a possible trade with GC next year after he has had another year of development and if Warnock can stay on the park.

You'd want to think this to be obvious to CFC.
Any trade for a speculative pick now would make me very unhappy.

Wait for GC. Simple.

I wouldnt be shatterd if we traded Hammer to Port for pick 9(or something like that), simply because were not short on talented ruckman anymore, Though I would prefer he stay...he will be a player and a half one day, wait till GC come in and look for a better trade or keep him.

What he said.

It is when the drafting hasnt fallen our way in recent times with recruiting KPP forwards (which is a major NEED at Carlton). Only 1-2 KPP in this draft rated as first rounders only. That is not many so you need a decent pick to have any chance.

And for upgrading you pick to 1-10...just look at the last two drafts, hardly a lemon amongst the first ten. The talent spotting has increased incredibly compared to 7-10 years ago!

And for those who want to reply that we have Waite/Kruezer fwd and Jamison/Bower back. Just what happens when one of them get injured, e.g Waite. No one can step up yet! We have no KPP depth at the club and it needs to be rectified! If Hammo looked like he could take a mark, i'd be different but he is a butter fingers right now in terms of his development!

If those who want Fev traded get what they want and have Kruz up forward, thats leaves Hammer, an injury prone/unproven player in Warnock, and then Jacobs to do our ruckwork.

Then if Hammer is traded away, we are left with Warnock and Jacobs.....that unproven Ruck combo scares me. If this happens, then hey, at leat we wont need to look for another full foward, as the ball will be going the other way from the first bounce.

Stupid move to trade Hammer now...especially if Fev goes.
