I do find the commentary on here about how the whole China business came about quite funny.
Watching posters write so much about who did what, with no inkling or idea about what has happened the last 3 years to get to this point.
Hint. Port Adelaide did not just "rock up".

We all get this.

We've had it rammed down our throats about guanxi and building relationships and giving before receiving.

We've had a beautiful, enlightening experience learning all about building relationships with the Chinese courtesy of Port Adelaide.

Turns out though that it was all nonsense and no amount of giving before taking and guanxi can compensate for some pretty colours on a Gold Coast strip.

They'd need the AFL to force it regardless by the look of it, unless they're willing to pay a LOT more.

By the look of it, Port are trying to pay another club crap ($500K would be bare minimum for what clubs sell games for) and with that demand that they lose their home game and Port get the benefits from absolutely everything.

Unlike "normal" H&A games, we've paid GC $500k for this game. So all of your examples & arguments about who/what club controls what under "normal" circumstances goes out the window.

Also as I've read elsewhere, the Chinese don't take kindly to white dudes running around wearing their national colours pretending to be Chinese..... it's going to do the GC brand more harm than good, especially if they lose.
