Impey is a tease.
Clearly loves the club and is blessed with some insane athletic traits but is struggling to take that next step.
Perhaps I think his ceiling is higher than what it is.
He'll always be a almost player. Frontrunner. Unfortunately

Nah I was there. We didn't have the cattle. Last night we did. 2007 GF we also did. Just the same old mentally fragility
He is our speedster,Impey is one of the types that we have been afraid to cut our losses with too early, and he isn't even a core middle player or KPP to boot.

The sheer variety of errors from him in that 1st quarter was impressive. Missed passes, missed shots on goal, missed tackles. Burnt us again and again. For me that was his Pettigrew in the 2007 GF game.Impey is a tease.

There's some terminology in AFL different to most sports.
Referee - Umpire (ump)
Foul - Free
Plays - Game plan
Our end/their end - Attacking end/Defending end
Field - Oval
That's all I can think off for now

Ah Chee didn't get anywhere near enough of the ball on the night (although in his defence he was once again hamstrung by low TOG%) but at least he does something with it once he has it. Right now he's just about the only guy in the side who I trust with a set shot.
Good luck on learning tactics and plays but I wouldn't bother trying to understand 'fouls' (in AFL they're called free kicks). I've been watching this sport religiously since I was about four and I still don't understand how this game is umpired. I don't think most of the umpires do either.
I have doubts on what would be:
- Clearances - when there is a ball up, the team or player that clears the ball for their side is called a clearance.
- Disposals - When a player kicks or handballs, that is a disposal.
- Hit-outs - When a ruckman taps the ball or gets first hand to it at a bounce/throw in. That is a hit-out.
- Bounces - When a player bounces the ball while on the run, that is a bounce. Players have to do this atleast once every fifteen metres.
- Interchanges - Every time a player is rotated from the field onto the bench, this is an interchange.
No idea on what they mean...
I saw them get kicked out but I have no idea what it was actually for. I noticed it but can't say much more then thatAnyone that was at the game in the cheer squad see why 6 or 7 of our supporters got kicked out?

He is our speedster,
Bit unfair too his overall game has improved in a few instances this year, his skill haven't unfortunately.
But I can understand the panel not wanting to cut their losses yet or even in the near future , but absolutely droppable at the moment.

I heard the story about the two year old as well. Bloody pathetic that is and we won't hear anything about that one.In the first quarter they were giving it back to these campaigner Essendon supporters.
Apparently things almost boiled over at quarter time when one Essendon supporter came right up to them but I missed that alleged incident as I was at the loo.
Port supporters in front of them were also very upset with them and looked like they were trying to get them ejected. Security came and said they had been warned and that they were now being kicked out.
Imo the Essendon supporters were the instigators. One of them pushed a 2 year old child over after the game too.
I dont know whether its because I've been staying at my brother in law's the last couple of weeks and he is an Essendon supporter and I have watched Essendon games with him whilst here, but at dinner last night I said to him I'm no longer pissed off with the loss but I'm still pissed off about the Geelong game. I would have probably still been pissed off about WCE games but jumping on a plane to Hong Kong and China for the Shanghai game eased my 48 hour wild frustration.I thought I took a long time to get over the eagles and then the cats game but apparently my pain threshold hadn't been reached.
I'm terrified there's even worse to come faaarrk
Mark comes from the concept that you would mark the ground and that's where you can kick from and the opponent would stand. That's why its not called a catch. I think it came from Rugby as the inventor of the game Tom Wills was sent off to the Rugby School in England in the late 1840's."Mark" and "Fifty" are odd, but their meaning is easy to grasp.
I am soccer-minded. Since, in soccer, a "free kick" is what you earn from a "foul," that term was easy to grasp. Others, though...
P.S.: On umpires... LOL!!!

Our skills under the roof where deplorable. You would think we were playing with a heavy wet slippery ball.
When Essendon had kicked 17.14 116, 103 of those pts came from turnovers according to commentators. They kicked another 1.3 for the game and I think 1.2 of that came from turnovers. On Saturday I put up the stats that showed our turnover average pts conceded was 43 pts and best in the league before the game.
We have a side of fumblers and bumblers and we could have had Usain Bolt, Justin Gatlin and Asafa Powell in the side and they would not have stopped Essendon's run when they set up a handball chain from their HB line scooping up our error and then 7 or 8 handballs in the chain that were slick, soft and not belted at the runner, were put in front of him to grab not behind him to have to stop and prop and the player receiving the ball grabbed it cleanly. Having spent a couple of weekends with my Essendon supporting brother inlaw I had watched them play their previous 2 games and their strength was their outside run. We should have been prepared for it but we weren't. Our coaches didn't react when they started using it.
Impey was a classic selection dilemma. He has the pace you want under the roof at Docklands but his fumbles and bumbles kill you because he burns the ball and those turnovers at Docklands hurt you more than elsewhere. He had plenty of error laden teammates, which was a big problem.

Thought you would be soccer. Was I correct when I said earlier than in footy 'our end' means the attacking end because most soccer people I talk to refer to 'our end' as the defensive end?
